We had all heard good things about Gatton Manor Golf Club especially the course and I guess it wasn't helped by the heavy rain that greeted us upon arrival. However this has no effect on the club house ambiance and the way the staff looked after us. The club house is very dated and feels very local - what do I mean by this - the welcome is like going into a pub you have never been in before and everyone stops to look at you as you come in. Breakfast was OK but nothing special - We played 9 holes before lunch and the course was OK but not in great condition but decent enough. Lunch and dinner were basically the worst food we have ever had on a golf day - I am pretty sure the potatoes had been cooked 4 days before they were served up to us. Frankly we will never go back which is a shame as the course is nice but totally let down by the club house, staff and catering. The only saving grace is that it is well priced so we didn't feel we had lost out too much!

Room Tip: We didnt stay only used the golf facilities

Please accept my apologies for my delay in replying and for what was obviously a far from satisfactory visit to us. I am disappointed to read your review and it is obvious that we failed to meet your expectations on all levels. I would like to apologise, particularly if you were made to feel at all unwelcome, this would never have been our intention as we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, friendly and relaxed club.
I appreciate that you are not keen to return but if in future you do have a change of heart, we would love the opportunity to welcome you again and show you the true Gatton Manor.

Brilliant golf course set in beautiful grounds. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and went out their way to make our trip very enjoyable. Food was good, no faults at all. Will be back next year.

Stopped at the hotel on Friday 4th November.

An interesting experience to find the hotel

Arrived late and was welcomed by friendly staff

Although some of the hotel looked a little tired the room we had was good, comfortable and quiet and the B& B deal was good

All in all a good value for money stay

Room Tip: aim for superior double

We stayed at the Hotel on the 24th and 25th September 2016.
The golf course was in excellent conditions - on a couple of holes due to the time of year it was a little difficult to find you ball among the leaves on the fairway. The course itself has some very challenging holes, but the scenery as you walk round the course is stunning, just like being in a country park.
The food in the evening was superb as was the service (we were a group of 9). The room may have been small but I didn't go there to sit in the room all holiday. It was clean and the beds were comfy. Breakfast the next morning was just as good as the evening meal.
The staff are all very polite and service was quick.
Excellent value for money and excellent course. Would I go back? Definitely

Our second Ruby wedding anniversary in 2 weeks and a new venue, which we had never visited before. Dinner was in the Golf Clubhouse rather than the Hotel and whilst parts of the clubhouse were a little shabby, the private dining area was not. Food was superb as was the attentiveness of staff who in the main seemed not to be English, but there handled everything beautifully. Well done! The Hosts must have also been very pleased,
