“A wonderful long weekend in Suffolk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 September 2011

A most delightful and elegant Victorian house furnished to a high standard. The hosts, Leslie and Roy could not have been more helpful, it was if we were long lost friends! and those wonderful breakfasts - set you up for the day.

What a find! I wanted to go to The Great House restaurant for my birthday but didn't want my partner to drive home so found this B&B through recommendations on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. A beautiful Victorian house, lovingly restored, with a very comfortable room (Damask). We were the only guests on the Saturday night so literally had the place to ourselves, or so it felt. Lesley and Ron made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble - Lesley even went out to get Earl Grey tea especially for me! We had a fantastic meal out on the Saturday night (The Great House is highly recommended), followed by a fantastic breakfast. The table was laid out beautifully, with every attention to detail considered, and a birthday card too! The fruit and yoghurt were excellent, and the full English . . . well! It certainly set us up for the day's walk. This is a great find, close to the village centre and to the railway walks (we walked to Long Melford on the Sunday). There's lots to do in the area and a pleasure to return to this sumptuous B&B. We particularly liked the fact we could book the one night. If we return to The Great House we'd have no hesitation in booking in here again!

Fluffy white towels, fantastic breakfast, beautifully decorated rooms with tea coffee and locally made biscuits and not far from the main attractions of Lavenham. Highfield House sits just outside Lavenham but only a few minutes walk to all you could need for your stay. The house is decorated to a very high standard and the room we stayed in was light and airy. Lesley and Roy made us very welcome and told us of local places to eat in the evening and were happy to lend us maps and help in any way they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Parking was available in the grounds of the house so there were no worries about where to leave the car. Only drawback for some people may be that you dont get a front door key so you have to let Lesley and Roy know what time you will be returning, this isnt too much of a problem as they say there is someone in most of the time. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Lavenham.

My partner is orginally from Suffolk and wanted to show me his home county as well as taking me away from the rat race for my birthday so he introduced me to Lavenham and its' lovely surroundings. The house definitely enhanced our visit and it is too beautiful to call it a B&B. It is a LARGE Victorian house which has been fantastically restored by its' owners Lesley and Roy whom I must say are truly lovely people who make you feel welcome upon your arrival. Both of them are very friendly and gave us great tips on what to see and do. Their warm wlecome added to that personal touch whilst they also respected our privacy. I have to say that the breakfast was excellent with a wide range of food to offer and all homemade. We did not eat until the evening. The room we stayed in was luxurious, large, private and had all the amenities we needed

The hotel is in a great location and is only a short walk into the village and is central to drive to other locations such as Long Melford, Bury St Edmunds and the beautful Suffolk countryside. We would recommend a visit to Munnings Tea Rooms and the Indian Restaurant in the Village. For anyone who wants to visit and see English history then we would recommend Highfield House and Lavenham.

We stayed in Highfield House to celebrate my husband's birthday and had a wonderful visit. We were given a warm welcome, even though we were only there for one night and thought that Lesley, our host was so friendly and helpful that it was like being her guest! Highfield House is not your average B&B, it's far better with large, comfortable bedroooms and probably the best breakfast we have ever tasted. We have stayed in Lavenham before as we are from Norwich so are reletively local, and I would certainly recommend it!
