Description: Sam and the team at The Lighthouse restaurant welcome every customer into a relaxed atmosphere which instantly makes you feel at home. With three different eating locations, downstairs, upstairs and the courtyard, The Lighthouse offers a 'Sleepy Suffolk' approach to eating out, with you dictating the pace of your evening. The Lighthouse chefs work tirelessly to continue to produce mouth-watering dishes for the A la carte menus and, the lunch & pre-cinema menu. With the creations of the dishes, Head Chef Guy Welsh ensures that the ingredients for all his dishes are as local as possible, with much of the fish coming right off the beach in Aldeburgh, our duck coming from Norfolk based Gressinghams, Five Winds butchers in Melton for our juicy steaks and local salad leaves from Sue Allen in Thorpeness. To round off the perfect evening, The Lighthouse offers a wide selection of tempting wines and local Adnams beers to compliment all of our dishes.

Third time in Aldeburgh, third lunch at The Lighthouse. We’ve always really liked it here and once again, it didn’t disappoint. I had the fish soup - hearty, deeply flavoured and wonderfully warming on a freezing day; my partner had the scallops with bacon and samphire which were very well cooked and quickly consumed.

Mains of duck and liver & bacon were hearty, well seasoned and well eaten! Too full for dessert, but the house chocolates and coffee (coffee for me; chocs for the partner) were a lovely end to the meal.

What I really like about this restaurant is it’s warmth of welcome. The proprietor greeted us as returning guests (a nice touch given it had been a year!), and we saw he greeted his regulars as old and welcome friends.

Service was good on a very busy Sunday. Food came hot and freshly prepared. Staff were busy but completely ‘on it’.

The atmosphere is warm and buzzy. Next year we may break out of the lunch routine and do dinner! But we’ll certainly be back.
A big thanks to the team there.

Thank Judith F

On a wet Friday in February we arrived earlier than our lunchtime booking but were made to feel very welcome. I would recommend booking because the restaurant filled up pretty quickly after we arrived. The service was very natural and friendly. I liked the fact that we were immediately offered tap water. The food was excellent - we stuck to the 2 courses for £12 which offered a good selection. Between us we chose the fish pie and chicken curry both of which were delicious. For dessert the boozy bananas with toffee crunch ice cream was perfect, the bread and butter pudding with whiskey cream and the crème brulee also got rave reviews. Lunch is served between 12 and 2. I thought it was excellent value with a lovely atmosphere. I would recommend unreservedly.

Second time visiting the Lighthouse, and the meal was again exceptional.

The restaurant has a fantastic laid back atmosphere and the service is very warm and friendly.

The food is simply exceptional.

It is best to book early as we have found it does get booked up.

Never disappointed . Food fresh and tasty every time without fail be it lunch , pre cinema or evening menu . Sam and the team always greet everyone with a very warm welcome . Make sure you book in advance as it is always busy as quite rightly it is a favourite with locals as well as Holliday and day trippers . It is a firm family favourite .
Look forward to our next visit .
