We stayed for a week in the middle of August in this quiet, single storey accommodation, while we visited surrounding areas. Not far from any of the local small towns and near enough to visit Monkey World and Longleat. With friendly, helpful owners and every amenity you could wish for, I can recommend The Barton Annexe for an excellent holiday.

Lovely modern cottage with everything we needed. Comfortable beds, clean, plenty of towels, milk in the fridge, tea and coffee. Nice lounge area and dining area along with separate kitchen, shower and toilet. Off street parking area and Wifi. Highly recommended for a quiet holiday near to many things of interest including Hayes Motor Museum 5 mile away. Friendly and helpful hosts.

When you open the door and walk into the accommodation you have booked, the first questions are normally "did I pick a good one and would I stay here again?" My wife and I said yes to both, it was perfect from the moment we walked into the annexe. It is tastefully decorated with plenty of room. The bedroom is curtained off to separate it from the sitting area, which itself is separate from the kitchen. There are enough windows to give plenty of light and unlike most of the hotels I have stayed in they actually open to give you fresh air. The Barton Annexe is situated in the very small village of East Lydford. It is a very peaceful retreat, no traffic noise, just the quiet Somerset countryside. So if you like noise it is not for you. The accommodation has an electric hob, fridge, microwave and an electric kettle, for those who want to have a meal or a drink. The electric shower gives controllable hot water which is set in a wet room. The toilet is in it's own little room. There is a TV if you fancy a stay in. It will be a bit small for those of us used to a 50" set. There are a pair of rear doors that open out to a small area where there are a Bistro table and two chairs for you to enjoy your drink outside. But the scenery is blocked by the wall of a storage shed directly in front of you. Basically a good centre to explore Somerset and good enough to stay in if it is raining or you are too tired to go out. Recommended.
What a lovely place to stay. Everything you need and such a comfortable feel. You may never want to leave
The owners are lovely and nothing is a problem.
Would thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting a bit of peace and quiet in a lovely village setting with amenities close by if needed.
Can't wait to visit again
Had a lovely week’s stay in The Barton Annexe in October, 2013. The accommodation is exactly as represented: Very clean; well equipped; comfortably furnished; tastefully decorated and all together truly a great holiday lodging. Everything you need to feel at home while away from home is there for you, including WIFI. The location is very quiet and rural, but as the hosts indicate, close to many attractions and shopping. I highly recommend Barton’s Annexe if you plan a holiday in this area.
