We spend most Easters at Glastonbury. In the past we've stayed in Camp sites, Guest house's and hotels. This year however we had my mother in law with us so Self Catering seemed a great idea and The Glastonbury Rose seemed the perfect choice.
The "2 up 2 down" end terrace house is next to the Metre Public house so was easy to find. The info on the web site said there was parking close by and there is, though expect a wait to find a spot at peak times. I was a little upset when we arrived not to be able to park the car straight away and then get to chill out after a long drive. But it was all sorted within 30 minutes and the kettle was on.
Once in and unpacked you start to realise that the owners of this house know exactly how to take care of guests and everything and I mean everything is there for you. I have never stayed in such a well stocked place, it's amazing, there is everything you need, they even have bread, milk, tea, eggs, butter and much much more to help you settle in.
It's exceptionally clean and tidy, well maintained and fantastically decorated for a guest house. One small moan is the lack of Stair Rail/banister on what are quite steep stairs. It wasn't a problem for me or my wife when trotting downstairs to the loo in the middle of the night (the only toilet is on the ground floor) but for my 75 year old Mother In Law it was a little worrying in case she slipped and fell.
But all in all a wonderful stay. I loved it and will want to return and have already recommended it to friends. Even the skittle alley next door really doesn't bother you when you hear the odd clatter, and of course being next to a pub does have it's advantages.
Great place......and I have to thank Meredith for what turned out to be the best time we've had in Glastonbury.

Glastonbury Rose is a lovely cottage perfectly placed just round the corner from the high street. The furnishings are comfortable, the living room is decorated in "Glastonbury style" with candles a King Arthur tapestry and crystals on the bureau. The Rose Incense left there by Meredith the owner was wonderful...Im afraid rather took liberties with it and used it all. There were some Angel cards and Runes with an explanitory book, which I found interesting.Upstairs is decorated in shabby chic French style - the double bed is VERY comfortable. Milk, free range eggs, fresh bread and tea making facilities were provided. The bathroom and the bath itself is of a decent size and there is a power shower. Candles and a seat are also in there for anyone who wishes to use them. The proximity to all of the main Glastonbury sites makes the use of a car not necessary - the Abbey, Chalice Well, White Water Spring and Tor are within walking distance. The Goddess Temple is just down the next street too - for the Mural alone this is worth seeing however if there is an opportunity to visit I can highly recommend it. There is a little noise some evenings from the skittle alley in the Pub next door...it is not too intrusive. John also does tours of all areas of interest eg Stonehenge, Avebury, etc and can collect from the airport(s) if required. I would recommend this cottage.

We recently stayed at the Glastonbury Rose Cottage for my wife's 40th birthday. It was so cosy and catered we immediately felt at home. Clean, tidy well stocked with every type of beverage known to man plus the everyday staples you want when you turn up someplace after a long journey - bread, eggs, milk, biscuits etc. John and Meredith have truly created a home from home right on Glastonbury's doorstep - a 2 minute walk puts you right on the High Street. I would stay here again in a heart beat. :)

The cottage is cosy and really well furnished, everything we needed was provided including hairdryer (essential) and a few basic food items (handy). A selection of DVD's and books as well as all the usual amenities were provided.
The cottage has been decorated with a real sense of character which makes you feel part of the spiritually eclectic atmosphere of glastonbury, we enjoyed lighting candles and incense and being surrounded by mystically themed art.
Despite our visit being in December we made use of the back deck to lounge on the comfortable benches and stargaze in the evenings wrapped up warm and clutching hot cocoa, obviously.
The cottage is so close to the centre of glastonbury we were surprised by how quiet and peaceful it was in the evenings. It is less than five minutes walk to a host of interesting shops and lovely restaurants as well as being (for us at least) 30 minutes ish from the front door to the top of glastonbury Tor.
We had a wonderful festive week over yule and christmas and would highly recommend Glastonbury rose.
