Lovely getaway hotel, Room was clean and comfortable. However I brought this room on last minute.com. The cheap price(£65.00) reflected the room, which faced onto the back of the hotel and the kitchens, We where woken up by the delivery truck at 0620am in the morning.

Had a two night break(Thurs/Fri) hotel is in a lovely location with stunning views of the Avon valley however is a a bit run down. The room was clean and tidy with lovely views across the valley but the decor was not very inspired for a period hotel(magnolia walls). There is a large car park which gets very full if there is a function on and as it has lost it markings people seem to park anywhere.

We did not eat at the hotel but did eat at the Hop Pole Inn at the end of the drive, the pub is a real old style country pub with friendly Landlord and landlady. The food is excellent and reasonably priced.

Overall our stay was good and the staff were friendly and we would stay again but only if we TAKE OUR OWN PILLOWS as the ones provided(3 each) were as flat as pancakes and would not be as thick as a normal pillow if put together.

we stayed on 16/17th of march , the hotel was nice and clean and the staff were friendly ,
the area was nice and we hiked along the canal to Bath on saturday , my only problem was the noise at night , friday was quite loud with lots of shouting but saturday it was so loud with a live band even after hiking all day and a few drinks with dinner i still could not get to sleep ,so for the first time ever at a hotel i complained about the noise only to be told i knew there would be a wedding on ( which i did not ) i was offered another room but being nearly 23.00 we declined , it s a shame that a room away from the party could not have been allocated when booking in as it ruined what would have been a very good birthday weekend ,if i had not had a drink with dinner i would have booked out and driven home .

Room Tip: avoid rooms above bar and party rooms at weekends

We stayed here in February 2011 (I cannot go that far here so had to choose April)and thought the location was absolutely stunning. The hotel has a very old world charm which made the experience quite wonderful. Our room was a very good size and I wouldn't complain even though the bathroom was on the smaller side. There was plenty of parking space for our car and the drive up to the hotel was quite wonderful as well.

Definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed here on a Sunday and Monday night. The bedroom was clean and we had a lovely view out across the valley. The staff were helpful and friendly. We didn't eat at the hotel but had a meal at the Hop Pole Inn which is part of the hotel, the food was excellent, huge portions and the landlord/landlady were very friendly. The hotel is looking a little tired and could do with being modernised. Watch out for the carpet, we've never seen so many different patterns in one hotel! We enjoyed our stay and would probably visit the hotel again as the location is very good, we walked along the canal towpath to Bath which is approximately 6 miles from the hotel and it only takes about 15 minutes by car to get to Bath.

So glad you enjoyed your stay, the pub at the bottom of the drive is indeed a great addition to the hotel facilities. The upstairs corridors carpets are a bit mixed, it does add a bit of character though, however it is our intention to replace the majority this year.
