A nice hotel, comfortable room. The staff was very welcoming and took care of us well. The weather wasn't in our favour and so couldn't enjoy the city, but overall we enjoyed our stay. Thank you

The hotel is situated towards the top of a very steep hill. while it is relatively easy to walk into the town you have to be fully fit to walk back. The building is attractive but not well maintained. The whole place is shabby with the canopy in the dining room filthy in places. There was no hot water in our room, the tap being at almost right-angles to the basin. When we mentioned this at reception the following day there was a dismissive response. Room was freezing and cramped. Pictures on walls cheap and tasteless. Breakfast very good (though I ordered fried egg and received poached and heard a foreign waitress insisting that a foreign guest had to have an egg of some sort because he wanted a "full English"!

This hotel was recommended to us by late rooms (I've no idea why) when the hotel we had booked with them failed to accomodate us.

First impressions were bad. The glass in the front door was smashed and the woman on reception was running around in a panic as she had too much to do (maybe if someone else was around to help her we wouldn't have had such a bad first impression). She had sworn under her breath a number of times before we were even shown our room and on normal circumstances we would have walked out had this not been our only option other than the long drive home. The place in general smelt of curry as they have a restaurant (which we did not use) and to cover this up there was a different smell of cheap room fresheners in each room. When we were shown our room we were told "this isn't the nicest room", I assume as way of appology...

The hot tap in the en-suite did not work. The en-suit was also tiny and the shower looked like it had been made in the 70's. At least the hot water did work in the shower but you could choose between heat and a dribble or cold and some power. We were actually woken the next morning by people in the next room trying to use their shower (with an awful squeek of the hot tap not working) and their full conversation about the lack of hot water. The walls are paper-thin so don't expect private conversations! The redeeming feature was that the bed was comfortable and we both had a good nights sleep (aside from the early wake-up call of next doors shower!).

The next morning when we tried to check out (we avoided breakfast) there was no-one to be seen even when we rang the bell for attention and so we just ended up leaving our key at reception.

On the drive out of Bath we noticed a travel lodge priced at £19 which in hindsight we wish we had known about!

Room Tip: Look elsewhere!!!

This house should not be allowed 'hotel' against it's title. The service was patronising and generally appalling. My partner and I were provided with a basement room, the view from the window was a wall, which incidently had stairs leading up to front of building, my shock when I wasn't fully dressed and someone was standing directly in front of the window. TV constantly lost signal and where our room was situated directly under the kitchen, sleeping was an issue. Oh and I cant forget that the door didn't lock properly all for £105. Bath is a beautiful place and I loved everything outside of this house, but I would not NEVER stay in this property again.

I am unsure why this hotel has an AA rating. This hotel would be closed if it was situated in Jersey. Our room was at the top of the hotel with lots of stairs to get to it. My mum who is 78 did struggle with this. The room was clean but the TV did not work and we had no heating in the shower room. It was absolutely freezing in the room. We had to boil the kettle on the floor as the kettle did not reach the plug from the table. Breakfast was okay but was cold when you got it. Coffee was aweful.

Bath itself is lovely and the taxi drivers are absolutely amazing. Very prompt and very cheerful. We eat at Kung Po chinese restaurant on the Saturday night and we had the best chinese meal ever. We would also recommend Martinis Italian restaurant, the food was great.

Room Tip: Just don't book this hotel because if you stay here you will be disappointed
