“How to match entartainment with some learning”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

The museum is splendid and it is so because of great audio book which you get free of charge with entrance ticket. The guide takes you through historical, architectural, archeological details about baths but also gives you some glimpse of actual social life in Bath in Roman times. Not only can you see how it once looked like, but also you are able to imagine how it was populated with plethora of people from all walks of life, how social hierarchy and structure put its trail on baths and what kind of gossips you would hear between baths.
And the place itself is really beautiful, escpecially in sunny days.

“Very informative and a must see when visiting Bath”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

Having worked in Bath some years ago I couldn't beleive that I'd still not visited the Roman baths.

Not a cheap day out, at around £12 each for an adult but well worth the money. This is a premier attraction and if you are visiting Bath, you really must visit them - so glad that we did after only 15 years of waiting...

You get a free audio tour with your admission and are welcomed by the familiar voice of Dr Alice Roberts (from the telly) which makes you feel welcome. She guides you though the entire complex in a really informative and easy to follow manner.

It's so good to see something that is 2,000 years old still in such good condition. The tour is very easy to follwo, educational, informative and you can do it in whatever order you want and take as much or as little time as you please at each feature.

A must see in a great town.

“Well worth the entrance fee”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

From the exterior, the Roman Baths does not appear very large and one could question the size of the entrance fee. When we entered, we realized how deceptive the entrance was. The complex was massive and mostly underground. This is because the baths were buried and only subsequently found and excavated. They have kept the ruins in place with the roads and buildings above. Included in the vast complex, we wandered through the temple, saw the sacred spring, and then walked around the great pool and lots of the attached steam rooms. The excavations were amazing. We saw worn steps where thousands of people had walked so long ago and clever Roman engineering used to drain the water through the baths. We felt how warm the spring water was and tasted it in the pump room. It was a great way to spend a couple of hours and well worth the entrance fee.
