It's hard to think of a more perfect hideaway for a long weekend or more in Shropshire's foodie capital. Staying at Upper Linney puts you in the heart of the old town whilst retaining its privacy, tucked away behind the ancient walls on a narrow back lane - almost anonymous in a row of period brick cottages. The shops, pubs and restaurants are 5 minutes' walk away and yet this is a peaceful location and a very cosy bolthole.
The property has been done to a high specification with plenty of attention to detail and - fitting for Ludlow's gastro-reputation - a selection of provisions awaiting you on arrival. None of this is at the expense of the building's character. There's also a small yard backing straight on to the town walls which is a real suntrap and handy for barbeques during the Summer. We've stayed in both Summer and Winter, and Upper Linney was ideal on both occasions.
A couple of caveats; there's no dedicated parking (this is made clear in the pre-booking info) and Upper Linney is ideal really for couples, but it's hard to find fault otherwise with a property that is the perfect accompaniment to the sensory feast that is Ludlow.
