From being attacked by wasps to a 40 minute wait for a disappointing sandwich, this place just does not deliver. The staff were unfriendly and food mediocre, we left half of the food as wasps were crawling all over it. If you want to see how a smokehouse works then go to Hickory’s. Also, if you are meant to get your own cutlery and sauces, explain that when you order. Will not return.

We booked last minute on the 19/8/2018
Wanted a table for 10 people which sometimes is hard to get seated , never mind get in at such short notice!
My previous experience here was a year ago and wasn’t that great so I was a little worried!!
I was actually pleasantly surprised, the service was great and staff were very accommodating.
The food was second to none and was all very hot and freshly done , everyone’s came out at the same time and so no one was sat feeling uncomfortable !
The only thing I will fault is the lighting upstairs is very poor and so we had to get our phones out to read the menus ! Maybe that’s something they need to address because if you are slightly sight impaired it’s difficult!

The food was just ok, nothing to rave about. Deserts were poor, for instance, fruit pie was a shop bought pastry case filled with a small amount of tinned custard topped with strawberries. Ok, but at a cost of £5 I would expect something a bit better, the brownies were also stale and hard. However worst of all the service was abysmal and completely ruined my mothers 75th birthday. Table not cleared, we were not asked if we wanted a drink or if everything was ok and completely left and ignored despite being the only ones in the place. There were at least 3 members of staff working and no other diners, but we had to go to the bar to ask for desert menus and to ask for table to be cleared. We then waited but in the end had to again go to the bar to order our deserts. We sat for ages surrounded by dirty plates. We could hear the staff laughing and fooling around taking selfies. The cutlery was filthy and in fact two of the spoons clearly had not been washed and again I had to approach the bar to ask for replacements. The cleanliness of the pub was definately below what I would expect from an eatery. The wooden trough placed on the table containing the knives and forks etc was so grimy, it didn't look like it had been washed in weeks. As were the menus, covered in grease stains and tatty. There were chunks of sawn off wood randomly left on the window sill, children's high chairs ingrained with food and dirt, cobwebs and flies, the bar area was also dirty and untidy with mirrors smeared and tables not cleaned properly and crumbs all over them. I could go on and on. Would we visit again, no never! Would I recommend, certainly not. This review is not a shock to the staff as we made them aware when

we paid the bill. We were offered an apology as they agreed that the service had been lacking, however we cannot recreate my mothers 75th birthday. Very disappointed.

on arriving location and building looked great was welcomed and told room would be ready soon so ordered a beer which was changed as still very cloudy after being sat for 10 mins room given keys for room 3 which looked lovely river view (room in pic) shower faculty but staff showed us how to use a wet cloth to operate it then cut my toes on a nail sticking out under edge of the bed reported this twice but nothing done about it so i bent it inwards to stop other people cutting themselves 1st mornings breakfast couldnt eat it raw sausage and bacon over cooked egg no butter for toast couldnt find anyone to speak to so ate out at Darcys( very good but £10.25 each) 2nd night woke during night so started to read my kindle and was horrified to see the light of the device attracted hundreds of tiny fleas and i mean hundreds not midges from inside but tiny dog type fleas i didnt tell my partner as didnt want to spoil her break on 2nd day breakfast we decided to avoid English breakfast and have the only alternative pancakes but was told they were off menu so had full English again asking politely if we could have butter and the sausage and bacon well done it was served as yesterday totally uncooked looked as if it had been possibly been boiled or micro waved i went to the staff member to explain the problem but she was busy with a group of customers so we just took our bags and left , i hope the owners see this and and use the comments to improve their business rather than be angry over a complaint please fumigate the rooms

We've been coming here now for the past 6 months and always enjoyed the food! The burger in particular was always homemade, big and fat and juicy with a wonderful homemade coleslaw on the side. However, we visited here recently and our burgers were obviously the frozen thin bought in ones, ie 2 thin burgers piled on top of each other! There was no coleslaw with the meal, just a couple of slices of gherkin and a teaspon of lettuce on the side!!! Sooo disappointing. Looks like this place has either got a new chef or new management. Another establishment on the ironbridge frontage which has gone downhill!! Seems to be no consistency in Ironbridge these days! Wont be going again.
