We went to this farm today, the price of the entrance is ok, not expensive, the place is ok with animals and activities for kids, the staff is ok, the ice cream prices were fair too, they have a big tent with picnic table
Visited the farm with my 4 children (6 years to 12 weeks) and their grandparents. We had fun but this is such a missed opportunity by the owners. This is a lovely small family attraction with animals and a number of different attaractions to keep kiddies of this age amused for a few hours but..... we paid £17.50 to get in only to find you then have to pay for most of the main attractions on top (crazy golf, animal food, ride on tractors). Of course you can just go in and play on the playground, sandpit, giant pillows (they were fun) but are often found in newer playgrounds where you obviously dont have to pay to get in. For us all to have a game of crazy golf would have been an additional £12! It’s such a shame that the cafe is not accessible from the main enclosed area since it means dragging all children out of the play areas and through the shop and car park just to get a coffee. They have obviously fairly recently erected a nice big shade to cover a few tables which would be perfect for picnics but sadly that doesn’t seem to be allowed.
I can’t help but feel they are missing a trick here, it’s the first week of sunny summer holidays and there were only 3 other families there. Hopefully someone will read this review and be able to act upon the following which i’ve no doubt would increase the number of visitors, and their enjoyment whilst there.
1) Reduce the entrance fee....why charge adults to go in? This is purely set out for children.
2) Allow picnics to be eaten onsite OR enable parents to purchase food and drinks from within the site so as not to effectively pack up and leave just to buy a coffee/snack....we would have stayed for lunch had it been more family friendly in doing so.
3) Employ some happy and friendly staff, this is supposed to be a nice treat for families, a helpful, happy smiley faces goes a long way to providing that.
Like many of the other reviewers (and I’m sure many of their other visitors), this was a fun morning but without consideration to some/all of the above points, we won’t be returning.
For a £4 entrance fee, I was unimpressed with what was on offer here. The farm looks in dire need of some investment. It’s just one open space with pylons around it and a few animals who looked a bit unkempt. There was no shade for the animals, or for us during this heatwave. We have a toddler and young baby. The outdoor toilets looked grubby and I preferred to change nappies in the boot of the car.
Other reviewers mention taking a picnic but there are several signs prohibiting this (unless purchased on the premises). There is a basic playground but only one toddler swing with 5 or 6 toddlers wanting to go on it. I’ve given 2 stars instead of 1 because the bouncy pillows were good fun. We won’t be returning. There are bigger and better farms for around the same price where you can more comfortably spend the day.
We bough six Cumberland sausages about 8 weeks ago which we then froze immediately . Had for lunch today virtually inedible, Dry, tasteless I suspect too much rusk as filler. We have never had this problem when buying sausages from Waitrose .
we shall not be returning, ever!!
Avoid this butcher!!!
Lovely way to spend an hour or so staff are very friendly and helpful. Cafe has nice range of things to eat.Good size for toddlers to have fun.
We went on a warm weekday afternoon. Is a nice afternoon for a couple of hours with a 3 and 2 year old. They loved the animals and sandpit. They advertised ice cream but were sent to three places before being told “no we don’t sell ice cream”, so why the sign is outside I don’t know.
The staff are not very friendly either.
Food in cafe reasonably priced.
As it was free, it was good!
