my partner and i stayed hear for one night in a executive room, the room was very well furnished with a massive bed, room was on the small side but not really a problem for one night, the other great thing about the room was the balcony over looking the themes, the hotel bar and restaurant were very pleasant although the food options were a bit strange looking so did not bother instead we found a tgi Fridays 5 min walk down the road. the swimming pool was amazing and extremely relaxing. the only let down was the executive lounge, web site and welcome letter state they offer free alcoholic drinks and canapes between 6pm and 8pm, we arrived at 7pm to find one bottle of white wine and two bottles of beer in the fridge and no food what so ever, there was one other couple in there who said they had stayed a few times before and it was always the same we all agreed this was extremely poor,
over all i would stay again but wouldn't bother with executive lounge

Stayed at this hotel for a wedding that we were attending in the Reading area. We paid a premium to have the 'executive room' with the privileges that this (£30+/night) gives. This includes a happy hour in the club lounge, hich includes free drinks for 2 hours as well as free snacks.
We have stayed in these types of rooms before (but not in the UK).

On our first night we took the opportunity to go down to the lounge and make use of the facilities. We were extremely disappointed. There were no snacks to be seen and the drinks selection was very poor.

After waiting for about 15 mins to see if a member of staff would be coming to check the snacks I went to reception to ask what was going on. They quickly sent a member of staff to check, however it took half and hour for them to bring out any snacks (at this point there were 4 couples in the lounge) and they brought out 12 tiny canapes!!!!! These were put in the chiller and quickly eaten by the people in there, we then spent the next 45 mins or so in the lounge, during which time not one member of staff came to check if anything was needed.

The actual room we were given was nice, but not at all spacious. From seeing other rooms as we passed, I think the diferences to a standard room was a larger bed (in the same size room) and a flat screen TV. Not really worth the £30+ extra that we paid. We did get a balcony overlooking the Thames, which was very nice. However, the 2 next door rooms had the same and were easily able to see into our room when they were on the balcony.

We complained on check out and were refunded the extra premium for one of the nights, so at least that was something.

I can't complain at the breakfast - all tastes catered for with a large selection of hot and continental food, and they quickly cooked poached eggs for me when I asked. The cost for b/fast was included in our rate, so can't comment on how expensive the food is.

Very secure parking too. Need tokens to get in on foot and out by car.

We spent a weekend here on a room only basis. The hotel has recently been refurbished and we found the bedroom to be fairly small but well equipped. The decor throughout is modern and attractive. The location is very good ,being right on the river by the Caversham bridge. What lets the place down is the restaurant which offers a poor choice with some eccentric combinations such as skate in batter with chips fried in goose fat. In fact all the chips seemed to come in goose fat.The buffet breakast at £15 is a ripoff. House wine at £6 a glass is expensive.
We chose to eat dinner at the nearby Riverside pub where there is a good choice of food and some decent wine at sensible prices. We took breakfast at the Gorse cafe which is just acroos the street. Here you can get a freshly cooked breakfast for as little as £5
