“A bit too big - and a bit tired”
Reviewed 2 February 2012

I only go to the Hexagon if the act I want to see is coming to Basingstoke or Guildford. I find the theatre just a little too big, and a bit tired. The almost underground nature of the approach to the theatre always make the front-of-house areas feel claustrophobic and they get very crowded if the theatre is full.

“Fantastic, the children thoroughly enjoyed the show!”
Reviewed 5 January 2012

Our first visit to the Hexagon. We went to see the pantomine Aladdin. Starring Justin Fletcher MBE (CBeebies Mr Tumbles) and Anne Charleston "Madge Bishop" from Neighbours.

Myself, my husband our 3 children (2,4,6 years) and Mum in law.

We parked in the Multi Storey next door, very easy to find.

Cafe area in Entrance Foyer with drinks, baguettes etc and extra seating. Also a stall with Mr Tumbles goodies for sale (very, very) reasonably priced. We brought 3 comics and 3 badges for a total of £4.50!!!

Seating was my one and only issue:
We were in seating Arena Door 3. Left side Seats 71-76, these were 2nd row to side of the stage. They would have been perfect, but unfortunately adults and older teen in front and not tiered seating meant children and myself (5ft 2in heels) couldnt see very well. The children had a booster seat we hired for £2 which helped (£1 deposit on returning) but obviously I couldnt use one as children all behind me.

The panto itself was very good. The Highlight for all children was Justin coming onto the stage. He really involved everyone as did Abanazar and Widow Twankey. The most "Camp" Genie ever was also very funny, along with a FAB Aladdin. A really enjoyable couple of hours and one we hope to repeat next year (just with different seats ha, ha)
