“Clean and corporate”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2012

Fine for business with good gym but sterile and corporate with expensive and uninspiring menu at restaurant. Not convenient for Oxford city centre.

Thank you for your recent comments. I am glad that you took advantage of using our Gym and Health Club. Even though we are not situated in the centre of Oxford there is a park & ride adjacent to the hotel and a taxi can be called from Reception which is only a 5 minute ride into town.
Thank you once again for your comments.

A good clean hotel, however the price is very expensive for it's location and the facilities it provides. It advertises Wifi on the website however be warned, this is not free and the rates are extremely expensive. Additionally, for the price of a room I would expect breakfast to be included and at least a bottle of water in the room. Other rooms overlooked by room which meant the room was not private at all. The staff demanded a pre authorisation of my card even though the room was pre paid for and there is no mini bar in the room. Ordered food at the bar and had to ask for cutlery and actually cut the sandwich in half myself. Overall disappointing.

This Holiday Inn is clean, and functional. It's close to several busy roads, and the location isn't exactly gorgeous, but it's a two-minute walk to the Park and Ride, so going into the centre of Oxford is quick and easy (about 10 minutes, £2.25 return). We didn't use the restaurant or bar facilities, so can't comment on them. But the free pool, steam, sauna and jacuzzi were very nice, quiet and much appreciated! If I were to stay in Oxford again, for sightseeing, I'd probably try and stay somewhere more central and traditional, but for a last-minute trip the Holiday Inn was perfectly adequate.

Room Tip: If you book a standard room be aware that you can't specify a twin or double bed.

My family and I stayed here for a wedding in the area. The family took a total of 5 rooms and the were no complaints about any of our rooms.
We all enjoyed the health club facilities and can recommend the pool area, which has a spa, sauna and steam room. ( the pool was brilliant for the children in the group).
My only complain is that it was quite noisy if you were staying on the A34 side of the hotel, you definatley could not have the windows open to cool your room down and our air conditioning was not working.
The reception staff were excellent and all of the other staff around he hotel were very polite.
I would not reccommend eating in the hotel at dinner. We were a group of 12 and it was a disspointing, from a packet food. However breakfast was good.
Overall I would recommend this hotel, just not dinner.

Room Tip: Order breakfast the night before and save yourselves £4.00 per person

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 May 2012

We stayed for one night midweek when visiting our son. The hotel and its facilities are good but its location on a service area off the A34 means it is very noisy and we were woken by a lorry leaving the service area at 5.30am, even though we did not have a window open. We eat at our son's college in the evening so can't comment on the restaurant other than for breakfast which was entirely satisfactory. Our room was an executive one, reasonably size, good size TV, plenty of storage space, rather hard bed and bathroom requiring refurbishment, but overall perfectly adequate.

Room Tip: Away from the A34.
