Everything is lovely in this sophisticated and comfortable hotel. The parking is a great benefit in this central location, we liked the fact that the hotel did not charge extra for this. The food is good and there is a great buzz in the bistro in the evenings. The service is very good and understated which we prefer. In a location like this, the hotel might try to get away with being less than immaculate, but they obviously continue to meet the highest standards. We left an item in the safe in the room and they immediately contacted us and returned it safely and thoughtfully. We have no criticisms to pass on!
Thanks for your review
Glad you enjoyed. We are indeed lucky to have a fairly large car park onsite. You obviously found us without problem. It's worth planning you journey when arriving at the hotel or calling us to give you directions. The Oxford one way system is a little complicated and there is a traffic restriction that should be avoided. It's easy once you know!
See you next time.
We recently went to Oxford on a short trip to see the City and the surrounding area. We chose Old Bank because of how central it is. The location is incredible - you can't get better. Getting there's a little tricky, but they have great parking. The rooms have all the amenities you need. One of the biggest differentiators is the service. Everyone there was very willing to help and give advice. One person in particular was Wojtek at the front desk - he gave us great tips on restaurants and tourist sites.
have never stayed here to be honest, but do go for breakfast when in Oxford and it is FABULOUS! great atmosphere, lovely decoration, clean, newspapers, nice staff and stupendous menu, very very tasty and a great start to the day. try their eggs benedict. yum.
I just love this hotel and have been coming back to it several times over the last three years. Some of the rooms might be a bit small like most hotel rooms in Britain, but it is clean, spotless, delicate interior with lovely beds. The hotel has lovely spaces rooms too, like nr 16 and 33, which is my absolute favourite. The customer service from the staff is 2nd to none, always smiling and helpful. Coming back, with my family last weekend I was given a warm welcome and got my favourite rooms.
The hotel is perfectly located on the High Street, with walking distance to everything. One of the things among many that make this hotel my favourite is all original art around the hotel, both in the public areas and in the rooms. - It certainly makes the hotel stand out from the normal decoration in many hotels. Mr Jeremy Mogford has a fantastic selection of art. My favourite painting “The boy by the window” by Ivan Kuzmich Sobakin, is in the hallway at first floor, but there is a lot more to see both in the hotel, at the Quod and the Old Parsonage (another lovely hotel and restaurant by the same owner). The library lounge is a nice and quiet place to sit down for free cup of coffee or have a drink.
Next time in Oxford – next time at the Old Bank Hotel.
Among the best small hotels I know. Located centrally, on the High Street, this hotel has excellently furnished rooms some with loads of character (for example, the two on the top floor). A good adjoining restaurat (The Quod) that also serves breakfasts, exceptionally helpful staff, and reading rooms for guests all make this hotel special. Not only does one get the impression that the hotel is run very professionally, the staff seem genuinely pleased to be working there. I have been staying here during visits to Oxford for over ten years, and it is always a pleasure to do so.
