Our room was very basic, twin beds and extremely cold. There was a skylight window which other rooms overlooked so we were confined to one end of the room to get undressed etc.
We didn't have breakfast so cannot comment on the food.
The location was good for pubs and bus into main town.

We were "welcomed" by one from the staff, that asked us to shut the door in a hurry, because it was cold for him! Not very welcoming. The rooms are small, and not so well cleaned. The water pressure in our shower was very low, but in our friends room it was ok. The breakfast was ok. The location was good, appx. 20 min walk from Christ Church college.

Ridings House is great if you want to spend a few site seeing days in Oxford and want a nice and quiet place to stay. The home has some vintage touches such as the skeleton key for your room door and the carpeting. I stayed in Room #1 which had a sink. Though small, having a sink to freshen up and a bay window gave the room size & efficiency. The room had plenty of outlets and a closet cabinet. The shared bathroom is clean and accessible. The living areas are VERY NICE and more modern. There is a nice back yard space as well that gives you the feeling of being one of the locals because it has a view of the neighboring homes. Fit walkers can easily walk down the road to the city center to access all the tourist areas. The best nearby food options may be the grocery store rather than the two restaurants 5 minutes away--that is unless that pub gets more waiters. George was very nice and helpful, however, it would have been nice to know that he does not stay at the property and you would have to call when you arrive so he could let you in. If you're from out of the country and don't have phone service this could be a problem. The area is quiet and within walking distance from a park that is excellent for young children. The location of Ridings House is pretty great because you can literally walk down the street right into the Christ Church area of downtown Oxford passing the Alice and Wonderland shop, a Red Bus stop, and a few boat restaurants on the way. Best of all FREE WIFI!!

Room Tip: Request George's phone number or try to arranged for him to be at the property around the time of your arrival.

Staff were very friendly on arrival and very close to town. Room was clean and had a double bed however, breakfast wasn't included and at busy points in the night you could hear the traffic on the road. Having never been to Oxford it was easy to walk to town without being directly in the centre and also near Oxford bowls made a nice stay for a weekend away and easy to get to Oxford Brookes university if you are going for an open day, Buses run directly outside the hotel if walking isn't your thing.
