Check in quick and efficient with a very attentive receptionist. On the lower floor but the room was quiet and comfortable. Bed very comfortable and bathroom clean with a great separate shower. Everything you would require in the room. The downside was the lunch where I had a chicken club sandwich - it was poorly presented with salad including lettuce which looked as though it had been lying around in hot weather for days!!!! Chips that were included were just about inedible.
It was the poor standard of lunch that clinched our decision to go into Nottingham for dinner. That was probably a good decision given that the breakfast wasn't very good either.

Room Tip: Probably would avoid rooms on the -1 level as the corridors a bit dark and dingy

We stayed here when we were in Nottingham for Download so didn't spend a huge amount of time here - this review is based on room & breakfast only.

Start with the positives: brilliant reception staff, really nice and friendly, and a good big room with a comfy bed and nice bathroom (I always appreciate a separate shower and bath). Within quick reach of the motorway and a fixed £11 taxi into town if you want to go out for the evening.

The not so positives: breakfast on Sunday was very busy but slightly better than on Monday. No one explained there were items you could ask for without additional charge and once we'd read that for ourselves on Sunday, we decided to do it on Monday. Two fried eggs and two pieces of black pudding then took 30 minutes and two reminders and everyone seemed to be having the same experience - the main waiter seemed to find it very irritating that people were doing this. Not the standard I wanted for the price I paid for B&B!

The location was not ideal, it was far out from the city centre. Also from our room we could hear a lot of traffic.

Some of the staff were extremely rude at times. Also when we got there the phone in the room was broken and had to be replaced.

The steam room in the spa was not working.

One evening we ordered Gluten free nachos and they were served cold. This was very dissapointing and during breakfast we found lipstick on supposedly clean glasses. For all its problems you would think it polite customer service would be to offer a complimentary drink at the bar or something like this. This was not the case.

On the plus side the Bed was very comfortable.

Overall we would definitely not recommend this hotel and have no idea how it achieved 4 stars. It is definitely not a 4 star hotel.

Dear guest,

Many thanks for your review. I'm disappointed to read that we didn't match you expectations and I do sincerely apologise. You are right to point out that we aren't a city centre hotel, we are very well located just on the outskirts with great transport links into the city.

Apologise you were unable to use the steam room due to unforeseen maintenance issues but I am delighted to advise that our brand new steam room has opened this week. I assure you I will investigate into all of your further comments.

Kind Regards,

Ian

Good quality hotel. Decent facilities, good sized rooms, bar area & friendly staff on the check-in desk. Let down with some poor food - main meal we had was awful - couldn't eat it, the meat was that bad.

We've stayed in this hotel a few times because it is a halfway between our home in Scotland and the south of England. It is big and bright with comfortable bedrooms. There was a big function on while we were staying. We had a bar supper and were looked after very well by a member of the bar staff. (But check out the price of drinks - you may decide one is enough!) There didn't seem to be as many staff on at breakfast time as there has been in the past, and no discernible restaurant manager. We had to wait a while before a waitress showed us to our seats, tables weren't cleared quickly and food at the buffet not replenished speedily.

Dear guest,

Many thanks for the review. I'm delighted to see that you are a return visitor, and really pleased to hear that the team in the bar looked after you so well. I'm sorry that you had a wait for a table and food at breakfast. It is clear upon investigation that we experienced a couple of challenges that morning so I do apologise. I assure you that we have shared your feedback with the team to ensure we can improve our consistency at peak times.

I do hope to see you again at Nottingham Belfry soon.
