Standard Premier Inn - it does the job but this one has a soulless Thyme restaurant with a menu that leaves a lot to be desired. I was attending an event in the city and we stayed overnight as it was on the way to a weekend away. My husband couldn't come to the event so stayed in the hotel and he really struggled to find anything to eat off the menu as he likes plain food but stuff with chips comes with skin on chips that he hates. As the hotel is a bit of a way from the centre there was nowhere local to visit.

Breakfast much better - the cooked to order English was lovely.

Our room was overlooking the main road but once we nodded off we didn't hear the traffic. With no aircon, having the windows closed to stop the noise would be a problem on a hot day - thankfully it was a chilly night.

Reasonable amount of parking on site, £4 payment taken efficiently on arrival.

I would worry about access to the hotel if you have mobility problems as there are steps down from the car park which would also be the drop-off location if arriving by cab.

Room Tip: Ask for a car park side room if you need a window open at night

Great hotel that was very close to the wedding venue. The room was clean, large king bed, and very clean washrooms.

The bar downstairs was open late. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to try the food, but they have breakfast and lunch.

Front desk - absolutely amazing staff who were very friendly. There were numerous rooms booked for the wedding; and the staff were quick to check us all in; and very pleasant to speak to.

We did not have an iron in the room - but I believe you can ask front desk for one.

Room Tip: Request a lower floor as there is only 1 elevator; and it takes quite long. With a lower floor, you can just use the stairs.

Parking is very good and free the day we were there but I think you pay on other days. However there were quite a few steps down from the car park and it was difficult for my mother who is in her 70s and difficult carrying a suitcase down. Sadly it was difficult checking in as all the computer systems were down so unless I had cash or a smartphone we would not have been able to check in. The staff were very friendly and really trying to make the best of a bad situation and all credit to them!

Breakfast was not buffet service it was served and it wasn't quite as good as other premier inns. The cooked breakfast wasn't as hot as expected.

However, it was a pleasant stay.
