A fascinating trip into over 1000 years of history. The guided tour is well worth the effort. Not suitable for those with poor mobility.

It seems to be the norm for guided tours I've been on lately, the guide feels it is imperative to make you laugh when what is really needed is facts, history and actual events - loads of them. Granted, we did learn some interesting stories but attempting to make us laugh at every juncture wasn't our guide's forte (a thing at which someone excels), that's someone else's job and for that I can by a DVD. The tour was around 45 minutes, this was explained in advance but, without the lengthy stops for humour the small section of caves they take you through could be explored in 12 to 15 minutes. From their website, " You will be given a hand-held audio set to guide you on your way". The day we visited we were not given any audio device, has this been replaced/removed? The actual length of the tour was very short (in terms of distance) but our guide 'stretched it out' and I'm sure there were locations we didn't see, places advertised that we weren't taken to that day (a Sunday) someone can advise me...
Out ticket lasts for one year, we'll probably go again if we're in the area to look for the bits we didn't see last Sunday, for now it's a 2 out of 5

Looking for something to do with the kids on a chilly sunday so booked this in advance. It seemed very strange going through a shopping centre to get to a place of this nature.

The entrance and reception desk were being refurbished when we visited but the staff were helpful as we arrived ahead of time and asked if our booked time could be bought forward, allowing for more time at the justice museum, not a problem.

There were about 15 of us on the guided tour, the children in the group were given an eye spy game to do on the way round to keep them occupied. The tour took about an hour with about 10 stops along the way for the guide to tell us where we were and the historical significance.

Being a cave system there is uneven ground, stairs and some low ceilings so this should be considered for the less able bodied but I would recommend this tour if in the area.
