Wife and I just fancied a quick meal after a long week at work and went to the Elwes and had a lovely piece of Gammon followed by a sticky toffee sponge which was lovely too

Whilst I have nothing specifically negative to say about the Elwes Arms, I just cannot understand why it is (currently) in the top 10 of TA, and in my opinion is just an average out of town pub.

Being from Nottingham, I thought I would try the place due to it's good reviews, but was definitely underwhelmed. The advice I would give to anybody visiting Nottingham and thinking of going to the Elwes Arms, by all means do if you happen to be close, but I wouldn't suggest you make a specific trip as there are so many better options in town.

Mother Day, Gorgeous food and lovely staff.
Came here with my family a special treat for a much loved lady. Right from the word go from arriving everything was set for a great day. Couldn't ask for more!

I see the reason as to why The Elwes Arms is within the top 10 eating places to be in Nottingham.
No matter how busy it seemed the staff were always to hand if needed.
And as the the quality of the food, well that speaks all for its self.

Carvery to end all carveries!

Already booked our next visit :-)

I'm sorry to write this (as the staff were very friendly) We are not from Nottingham so totally relied upon Tripadvisor in guiding us to take out elderly relatives. First impressions were not great as The entrance was scruffy with litter and cigarette ends on the ground. However, the dining room looked better just a bit soulless. The food was disappointing and very average indeed for the money - around £9.95 for a main and for that amount there is lots of good quality choice around. It was the kind of fare you expect to see on a cheap n cheerful deal for pensioners. The glasses and cutlery also were a bit grimy and the toilets looked like they could do with upgrading.
