What an absolute hidden gem of a place. We found the restaurant by chance as it’s easy to miss but luckily we found it. Fabulous vibe and really quirky with loads of wall mounted clocks all set at eight o’clock! The service was superb and the food even better. On a generally quiet early Wednesday evening, we managed to get a table but there were people beginning to queue not long after us and some being turned away and it was not hard to see why. I’d definitely recommend booking a table in advance and moreover, definitely book and enjoy a visit to this top quality restaurant. Thankyou for helping us enjoy a great few days in York!!

Got the pulled pork sandwich for lunch. Really tasty and the restaurant itself was very pretty and clean. The people working there are lovely and quick. Very impressed!

We went to ate o clock for a belated birthday celebration & we could not have chosen a better location. We had the pate & huge garlic prawns to start, everything was divine. We then had the duck, swapping the sweet potatoe mash for the herby mash. The duck was slightly pink and full of flavour and there was an absolute abundance of it!! The service was impeccable and extremely quick - nothing was too much bother. They even brought out a lovely brownie with a birthday plate prepared for us - a really lovely touch to end the evening. Credit to the staff of this place - they are extremely on the ball & Covid safe & an absolute delight. My only sadness was that I could not leave a big tip on the card machine for them as I wanted - they only take cash tips! Overall, excellent meal, superb service and we will be back again.

We had a great time at ate o'clock for our anniversary dinner. The staff went to great lengths with prosecco and "happy anniversary" written on our pudding to make our night special. Many thanks to Max, Tessa and Courtney.

Great evening. Great is the best way to describe the meal and our evening. I had booked to sit inside, but was told there was only one space for us which was outside. We weren’t too bothered, however from when we both used the toilets the inside seating looks much nicer and atmosphere seemed better upstairs inside. There were a few things missing for a 5 star rating. We went for my girlfriends 23rd Birthday, to start we had Tiger Garlic Prawns and the pulled pork scotch egg. The prawns were the best thing we had. For main I had fillet steak and my partner lamb shank, considering the price tag we were expecting very high quality produce, but that was not the case. Steak was not a prime fillet, my chips were a bit hard in the middle (maybe frozen). Multiple different cocktails consumed which were very nice. The young waitress was fantastic who served us all night. We weren’t wowed which I was expecting from reviews and the price. Would certainly go back if we lived local.
