“Great house and location... Be wary of any accidents”
Reviewed 25 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

I stayed at Clock Farm House with a group of 9 of us for a weekend in York. We were an all male group and have to say that the house itself is absolutely stunning, however there was a constant worry about any damage as the owners made it very clear that this house was a work of love and if there were any damages at all it would be very bad.

Come the end of the weekend, we had looked after the house well, however when cleaning a coffee table, the glass broke (it was loose on top). When explaining this on the phone at check out the land lady was not pleasant about the situation and proceeded to speed down to the house in her 4x4 to assess what had happened. She was very clear that she did not believe the damage was an accident and overall it left a very bitter taste in the mouth for what otherwise was a very great weekend.

Lovely house, I just think the owners need to treat the guests more as adults and try and create a welcoming atmosphere and realise that in a house that size with that many people, accidents can happen, however the majority of the people staying in a house like that will be responsible to generally look after the place and cooperate in fixing any issue. Nice place, a shame about the attitude.

Clock Farm House does not usually accept bookings from stag/hen parties. However on
the assurance of the lead gentleman guest that this was a responsible group the booking
was made. The glass top on the coffee table was not the only damage, along with an oak
floor, a nest of tables and a leather stool. This is not a house for stag parties.

“Clock Farm House is an ideal large get together venue superbly furnished and provisioned”
Reviewed 8 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

This was an ideal venue to celebrate our Ruby wedding with children, spouses and grandchildren. The house was in a beautiful location with uninterrupted views over the countryside. A very warm welcome from our hosts ensured a most enjoyable stay with lots of extras included. Highlights for the children were new born lambs, horse riding, a tractor ride and exploring the large house. The kitchen was the focal point for large family meals after which we would retire to one of the lounges to curl up in front of a roaring log fire. No hesitation in recommending this to anyone who loves the country life with York on your doorstep.
