Disappointed this time. Shop selling London themed goods and too many Harry Potter themed shops in close proximity. Also some stalls on the market were a bit cheap and nasty which let things down. Scaffolding up but appreciate that work has to be done. More atmospheric and pretty at night with lights and Christmas market nearby.

Interesting medieval street but difficult to fully appreciate because of the crowds. Better choices of shops elsewhere in York but the market has interesting stalls

I love York, I have been many times and always make a point of visiting The Shambles, but in future I won’t bother. It’s become a Harry Potter Theme Park, just because it has a resemblance to Diagon Alley. I would have thought more of York, what a sell out!!!

This is a quaint street to walk down and is a must but WHEN did this overriding obsecion with Harry Potter arrive- seems that every other shop sells Harry Potter stuff - are we to see it renamed Diagon Alley.

A lovely area with such character in the buildings, street and shops. There are lots of intricate shops and pubs to see, it is really like stepping into Dickens days!

A very interesting and quaint street, an impressive street food area and artisan market . Very eclectic row of shops , but Harry Potter merchandise is too prevalent.
But if that is what visitors/ customers want....

The alley is full of tourists so if you want the feeling of mediaval alley and take a good picture, come very early in the morning.
