From arrival the service was outstanding from checking in to being shown our room. Spent a relaxing time in the spa, before being treated to pre dinner canapés in the drawing room. We had the tasting menu which was amazing. Breakfast was delicious having the Yorkshire full english. Top marks to all the staff who looked after us from start to finish.

We were warmly welcomed and shown to our room.
The hotel is old and a little warn in places but don’t be put off as it makes up for this in 2 ways....

The staff are lovely; they get the professional and friendly in the right balance and you really do feel like you are a welcomed guest.
The food is fabulous; much nicer than some Michelin Star restaurants we have eaten in. We went for the tasting menu with wine pairings and it was stunning in presentation and taste. Breakfast was equally delicious and good choice to satisfy most tastes.
Would definitely return.

Beautiful old Manor House set in lovely grounds, retaining lots of period charm. Only spent one night here but felt very welcomed by friendly staff and indulged in the small spa including swimming pool. Didn’t eat evening meal here but enjoyed lovely cooked breakfast in the morning. Great base for a short break in York.

My husband and I stayed here in March and had a room in the courtyard. The service from the staff was particularly outstanding and the whole stay was a great experience .The dinner was superb , the bedroom was extremely comfortable, the ambience in the main rooms gracious and peaceful .
We only had one negative comment which was at breakfast , and interestingly another reviewer apparently had the same problem which prompts me to mention it again as it has not been corrected. We only wanted toast for breakfast, nothing cooked,, and the toast presented was thin, poor quality, sliced white bread and badly burnt .
What a shame after that amazing dinner, but of course it did not spoil our stay .
