“The best possible way to enjoy York”

This lovely apartment is only minutes away from the City Walls but wonderfully quiet and peaceful. The secure car park is a huge advantage as public parking is expensive in York. The location is absolutely perfect to walk anywhere into York or to join the ring road to visit places further afield. It was a delight to visit the theatre and cinema and then have a pleasant stroll back to the welcoming apartment.

The apartment itself is immaculate and beautifully furnished with doors opening onto a patio. It felt light and airy even when it was raining and was glorious when the sun shone through the large windows. The kitchen is well equipped and absolutely spotless.

It was delight to be made so welcome by Phil who met me at the gates. The table was set for tea with scones and jam, Yorkshire parkin and Yorkshire beer - such a good start to my stay.

Although there is an imposing front entrance there is also a very handy side entrance to County House which avoids any stairs.

The apartment is also flexible in that the bedroom can be made up with three single beds if required.

I would recommend this apartment to anyone wanting to vist York and very much hope to return.

“Best Vacation Rental Ever”

Yes, it's taken me awhile to post this review. One of the reasons I came back to do so is because this memorable apartment has become the standard for us to compare all other apartments. Few can measure up.

It is light, airy, and spacious, well maintained, and immaculately clean. Mary and Phil were so warm and welcoming, and had a table set for us with scones, jam and butter (not to mention a bottle of wine) when we arrived. The apartment was quiet, but very conveniently located for walks about town. I might also mention that we were traveling by train, and it was easy to get to and from the station, and we felt no need at all to have a car.

The kitchen was very well outfitted, so you could actually cook something if you hadn't indulged in one too many Cornish pasties as I did. Sainsbury's is just next door, so it couldn't be more convenient. I continue to recommended this apartment to friends, but I also hope that we will have the opportunity to stay here again.

“Fantastic base for our week in York”
Reviewed 26 November 2013 for a stay in November 2013

We stayed in this apartment for a week with our 3-month old baby.
I was really impressed with the standard of the accommodation, and how well-equipped it is. There is even a Washer/dryer, which is essential with a young baby.
The kitchen had all the equipment you could possibly need, unlike some holiday lets that have the bare minimum.
The apartment was spotless when we arrived, and the Parkin, scones and beer were a nice welcome for us after our journey.
The location is perfect for a break in York, it really is only a few minutes walk into the city centre. We didn't need to use our car at all during our stay, so it stayed in the secure car park all week.
The supermarket (Sainsbury's) is just around the corner, although the owners kindly leave some basics such as bread, milk, coffee, tea etc in the apartment.
If you have a pram, access to the accommodation is easy via the side door, so no need to worry about the stairs.
We have already recommended the apartment to friends, as we were so impressed with it.

Liked best: The location
Liked least: The shower seemed to have a faulty temperature control, and was too hot ( this was a minor niggle, everything else was fantastic!)

“What a wonderful find”

This apartment has everything one could wish for in a rental apartment from the warmth of the welcome by its owners to the immaculate condition of the place. It has quality furniture and fittings and the range of kitchen utensils is remarkable for a holiday let.
It's bright and airy with french doors leading to a small patio with garden furniture. There is a Sainsburys next door but the apartment is equipped with basics such as milk, bread, butter, tea, coffee, salt, pepper, soap, tissues, and toilet roll, so you don't need to rush out to shop. There is secure parking. The location is wonderful; just outside the city walls and within easy walking distance to all attractions in York. We especially appreciated the fact that it was quiet. I think I can say it was the best holiday let that we have ever stayed in and great value for money. Thank you Mary and Phillip for running a superb establishment.

Liked best: The whole deal.
Liked least: We did find it difficult working out the oven but that is only because we're not high-tech folk!

Spotlessly clean, short walk to shops, Minster and bus stop. Very well equipped and the courtyard was an unexpected delight, had the weather been kinder we would have made full use of it. We thought it might be cramped with 3 single beds but it wasn't, we all agreed it was a lovely apartment, a beautiful city and we look forward to our next visit!
