Friendly enough staff, if rather amateurish. Poor room (can only speak for ours) and very noisy, even on a Sunday night. The management should involve the police in clearing the drunks from outside the hotel in the middle of the night. Breakfast begins ridiculously late (at 0830hrs I think), so anyone with (say) an early train to catch, or a full day planned, is kaiboshed!

Room Tip: Definitely not a front room (noise)

We had a great stay here at the George hotel on Sunday 6th may

Excellent location right next to all the shops pubs and beach

Very friendly staff
We were able to check in before 2pm as our room was ready.

Stayed in room 11 it was nice and clean, tv on the wall, tea coffee provided nice bathroom.

Karaoke was on when we got back to the hotel at 11ish but as we were right at the top we didn't hear anything so was able to get to sleep.

Breakfast which was included in the price was great - toast, croissants, muffins, cereals, tea, coffee, juices etc
It was only £5 extra per person if you wanted a full English to.

This hotel doesn't have onsite parking but there's a train station opposite with a small carpark and some car parks further down past the co op, however as it was bank holiday and 20 degrees it was rammed so had to go a bit further out to find a space. Wasn't a problem as it was nice enough just to walk in with our case and the space we found was free so couldn't really complain.

This is a lovely hotel

I didn't stay here so cannot comment on the hotel side of things or dine here, it was for a drink; I would suspect that this place was once quite grandeur but has had to move with the times and become more of a sports bar, it was noisy with television screens everywhere, not helped by a major league football match at the time. There only seemed to be Tetley ale available, there's quite a few steps for access at the back and different levels within, not great for mobility but there is also a front entrance which is more town centre. Somewhat disappointing for what I thought from the outside would be an olde-worlde coaching inn type of pub, but each to his own.

The best thing about this hotel is that it’s located in the centre of Whitby.. that’s all.

The hotel is noisy, late at night all you can hear is the Karoake and music from the bar then in the morning all the noise from the bus station and road sweepers.

The room was dirty, shower was mouldy and breakfast was terrible.

There’s better places to stay in Whitby for the price

We cant really comment on the hotel as we called in to the pub on a busy Saturday afternoon whilst shopping in Whitby for a quick drink. Typical old style pub which is part of the hotel. As you can imagine, it was pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon Drink prices really reasonable and good atmosphere and very centrally located. Would call in again when next in Whitby.

Room Tip: We didn't stay at the hotel, we only visited the pub
