Tower cottage was perfect for us. It is fully equipped with everything you could need . It’s very small and each room is on a different level ( but we were prepared for that , having read the description before we booked.). We arrived to our beds made up and little essentials such as washing up liquid, hand wash , loo rolls and kitchen towels provided . Our teenage daughter bagged the top floor , she loved the view of the harbour and abbey from her window, and she was more than happy with the free WiFi. Access to a washing machine and dryer ( no extra charge) is great, especially for those with younger children . The cottage is dog friendly and dog bowls are provided in case you manage to forget to bring your own as I did. The cottage is just a few yards from the main drag and just behind the Whitby Catch ( I can recommend their dressed crab). There is an unloading bay close by and the parking bay which is provided for a small extra charge is a few minutes walk away . The owners are very friendly and helpful . Overall , Whitby cottages offer extremely good value for money holidays . Couldn’t ask for more.
Right in the middle of town, this quirky cottage has loads of character and is a great alternative to staying in a B & B. We received a text from our hosts to say the room was available early, and we had asked for parking nearby that the hosts had arranged which was two minutes walk away. All the information from the hosts was excellent and posted out beforehand as it is tucked away somewhat just behind the main drag, Magpie side, and layout is as follows...
Ground floor = Kitchen and Bathroom - loads of pans/dishes/cutlery - you don't need to take anything except food. Fridge has an ice box but only small. Bathroom and kitchen are small but absolutely fine - everything works well.
First Floor = Lounge - comfortable seating, TV, DVD, VHS, choice of films to watch, decent electric fire keeps the place nice and cosy.
Second Floor = Bedroom - comfortable bed, another TV and DVD player. Slept like a dream after all the sea air!
Third Floor = Spare room, great views of the Abbey and sea/harbour from this room. 2 pull out beds in here if you have more than 2.
A great little place, basic but perfect for us, nice and warm, we would recommend it.
Excellent location, just off the bustling harbour front. The cottage is full of character and very tall with one room on each floor. Enjoyed the view of the harbour and the Abbey from the top room. The spiralling steps are very steep and narrow. Facilities are basic but adequate. Would be nice if the bins were at the side - some plants to look at from the kitchen window instead. Overall, good value and enjoyable.
What can I say ? If you want a cottage that is old, quirky, tall then this is it . It’s location is perfect easy access to everything in Whitby . I stayed in tower with my partner and my parents and yes it is small but charming and gives you a feel of what it was like to live in a town cottage . Everything you need is in the cottage and was also clean and basic . You will not be disappointed with tower with it’s cozy feel and charming location. Great value for money . If you want something different then this is it you must try !
The tower cottage is perfectly located in the heart of Whitby just behind the magpie cafe and near the arcades with overnight parking a 5 minute walk away (payable extra) and free wifi throughout. John & Jean are on hand for any queries and always happy to help! The tower cottage is brilliant for short stays with 2 TVs and vhs tapes! Had I known this I would have brought some home videos to watch! There's is only a shower and it doesn't look very enticing but it's actually lovely and warm and steamy! Wouldn't recommend 4 adults stay here, but 2 adults and 2 kids/dog would be ideal!
