I cannot say enough good things about this place. The staff are so friendly and helpful the food is amazing, my 11 year old son asked how many Michelin stars it has! The scallops are delicious and the steaks melt in the mouth. And if you have dogs the upstairs restaurant is really lovely. We will be back. And happy 21st to the lovely Leah (not sure I’ve spelt it right) both ladies were great.

Having spent a wet Easter weekend in Whitby we decided to have our last evening meal here. We booked in for 8pm. It was a narrow old on the busy cobbled street. On entering it was very dark I kept expecting Johnny Depp to pop up or a wizard out of Harry Potter. We were shown down some stairs into a low ceilinged dining room. We were given menus and drinks order taken and left to peruse. It wasn’t a large menu but there were specials both meat and veggie. We were served by very pleasant young ladies and nothing was too much trouble. We had quite a wait for our drinks and orders to be taken but the servers apologised as it was extremely busy. I ordered mussels in garlic and white wine and my other half ham hock terrine. For main I ordered chicken with a bean fricassee and pancetta cream and the other half lamb. While we waited for our starters we were given some beautiful homemade bread to nibble on. The food was exceptional - it was very tasty very well seasoned and we both cleared all our plates. Then forced a desert down.
The price may be a little expensive for some people but it was worth every penny. The staff were so attentive, truly a lovely dining experience. Oh if you are a gin lover you really really need to pay a visit

Gin menu was amazing . Meal was fantastic and staff friendly. Make sure you keep the fire going though and if a 5pm booking is in please dont forget your customers. Service got better the more people came in . Apart from that a lovely place to eat and drink

Spent 2 weekends in Whitby and called in several times . Unfortunately we didn’t eat but definitely will return to try the food . This is a lovely quirky place . Great drinks . Extremely friendly service . We sat in the upstairs lunge the second time with the open fire . The restaurant looked lovely . Very old place very welcoming . Don’t miss out if you come to Whitby . We will be back to sample the food .

We held our small wedding reception here and we were blown away by the helpful team! They all made sure our day was perfect and nothing was too much trouble. I really cant praise everyone highly enough!
The food was delicious, we all had a traditional Yorkshire roast, the meat melted in your mouth and all of the usual trimmings were perfect! The desert was spot on and everyone commented on how well presented it was.
We cant wait to return and try some other food from the menu and stay over in one of the lovely rooms.
Thank you again to all of the wonderful people who helped make our Wedding day so so special x
