We ate here on the back of trip advisor reviews and we were not disappointed! Fish pie, shellfish linguine, cod, and scampi where all cooked to perfection and tasted divine. Not a scrap was left. The wine list is a touch on the expensive side but all good wine and perfect with the fish. We recommend this restaurant to any fish lover.

Best meal I have ever had for the price, try and get a table before 9.30 as you may end up feeling a little lonely when the pianist leaves for the evening.

We have visited this restaurant for lunch on several occasions and always enjoyed the experience. The food has always been delicious and the location, right on the harbour side, is wonderful. We were at the Marine again this week in a party of four, who all ordered the same meal - seafood chowder, followed by Whitby crab sandwiches and hand-cut chips. The food, as usual, was very good. However, we all felt that the portions of seafood chowder were very small and we were not offered any bread to accompany the dish. Whilst the chowder was in itself very acceptable, we did not think that it was good value for money. We were also disappointed with the service because, having cleared our main course plates, the waiter did not ask whether we wanted sweets or coffees. Furthermore, we were totally ignored, until one member of our party managed to make eye contact with a waiter and ordered our coffees.
We were a little disappointed with The Marine this week but, because we have always enjoyed our lunches there in the past, we hope that we just caught the restaurant on a bad day, and will definitely give it another try.

Me and my husband decided to come here for our evening meal after we walked past during the day, we were so pleased that we did!!
We felt slightly undressed as the decor is second none, never the less we felt welcome.
We ordered a couple of there cocktails which were very nice. For starters I ordered, The "Eggs Benedict" only with Haddock instead of Ham and my husband ordered the Seafood Chowder both were devine, the Hollandaise sauce was amazing and it worked so well with the Haddock, For our main courses I had the Fish Pie with Peas, Green Beans and Asparagus and my husband ordered Lobster Thermidor, the Fish Pie came with Chips as well, and was again devine, my husbands Lobster was slightly over cooked as it had a slightly chewier texture than normal, my husband thought this might be because it is cooked earlier in the day and then topped of later, he still ate it though and enjoyed it!! We were also impressed with the pricing 4 cocktails in total plus food, came to £80 including tip.
We would definatly recommend this place and WILL be going back when we next visit Whitby, might get dressed up though next time :0)

Not at all like Whitby (spit and sawdust try to be modern but can't quite cut it);a really nice place to spend the evening.
Nice ambience (try for the back room, where you can hear the (really good ) pianist, but it doesn't stop the conversation);well positioned tables, good decor.
Service really attentive (if not so polished - like Whitby!),do what you want them to,though.
Exellent wine list..
Some really good quality food (oysters excellent with accompanying sauces [unlike Greens that charges extra for sauces on already overpriced oysters],super lobster specials, reasonable fish pie,and to avoid the prawn tempura starters.
Highly recommended
