We visited the Humble Pie n Mash this evening after a particularly cold and damp day in Whitby. We turned up at 5.30 and were seated straight away by a very welcoming waitress. We were spoilt for choice with the pies on offer but opted for the chicken and the lamb and our son chose the sausages and mash (for only £3 which is incredible value). Food arrived quickly and was piping hot. The food was delicious - I wish I could make pie and mash like this, and the gravy was superb. The atmosphere inside is homely, and comforting and just what you need to put a smile on your face. We sat by the open fire which was a delight and we also took in our own bottle of wine and the waitress kindly provided us with glasses. We loved reading about the history of the building and looking at all the replica inside. Our waitress was smiley, and friendly and managed to provide excellent service whilst busy. We haven’t found other places in Whitby to be as friendly and welcoming unfortunately. This place is a must visit when coming to Whitby - spot on affordable, tasty food and service with a smile! A home from home place to eat and unwind. We shall definitely return!
