Booked a night to stay in a room with double bed. arrived at 4pm and told room not ready (which was odd as the place seemed deserted due to covid etc) however we were 'upgraded to a basement room (?) with a small balcony, so we could have a room immediately. room was nice, however showerhead was heavily scaled up and water was squirting out everywhere. told the GM this and she said it was cleaned a week ago, it wasn't. She said London has limescale issues (it does I'm well aware) but not enough to block the shower head in a week. She couldn't understand my query despite me speaking English (I'm English) The room booking offered a free minibar, however this was empty. GM said they cant offer the minibar due to covid19 (what?) despite this being included in cost? had issue with a big party in room next door, lots of people, complained to reception at 10pm and someone came down and knocked on their door, it soon went quiet to fair dues. The breakfast was outstanding, the Italian waiter on the sunday morning was fantastic. food was cooked to order, wasn't greasy and the coffee was fresh. worth paying the extra for breakfast at time of booking.
Oddly, the hotel seems to be joined to the indigo, we walked through reception the wrong way and ended up at the indigo reception adjacent.
complained to expedia about the points above and they gave me a £50 refund which was nice. Would i stay again? Probably so but before I unpack I'd inspect the room in more detail first, we were up against time on this stay.

We stayed here in September 2020 and we highly recommend this hotel as we have nothing but great things to say about the hotel, the team and our stay there. The hotel, which is well located with great transport links, is a beautiful Georgian building situated in the picturesque Talbot Square. We stayed here for our wedding night and stayed in a stylish, clean and comfortable Junior Suite - which looked out onto the peaceful park square.  The room had great amenities and a lovely bathroom.

We also had a Covid safe, small wedding reception at the hotel and the food was great (even in spite of the limited menu due to Covid). The team that looked after us bent over backwards to ensure things ran smoothly and we were well catered for.

Book to stay here if like stylish boutique hotels and you’re a fan of excellent customer service. A big, big thank you to Stefan, Mario, Olltica and Witek, who are great, and thank you to the whole team. We’re looking forward to returning to stay here.

These are difficult times and to be able to enjoy some of the basics if not the full works is to be welcomed and appreciated. The staff continue to smile and do all they can to ensure a safe clean bed for the night and something to eat and drink . The menu was limited but what I had was nice and served with grace . I cannot help but think that in better times a fuller range would be available. The room was compact but smart. The shower cubicle suffers slightly by having the jet dead centre, leaving one little room to escape for air as it’s quite compact in there . I think a larger person could feel uncomfortable so you may wish to enquire about other rooms . Hyde park is a short walk away and Paddington station is close by so location is good. A pleasant stay with courteous staff.

Booked last minute for 2 nights away in what turned out to be a deserted London. Received friendly welcome and assistance throughout, great location, superb rooms and staff happy to help with anything we needed. Highly recommend.

Despite these difficult times we were made very welcome at the Mercure. Our room was excellent, with a lovely view over the square. Comfy bed and excellent shower. The breakfast in the Bistro was very good.
