“True English Feel and terrific staff!”
Reviewed 12 April 2012

This hotel was exactly what we were looking for! Prior to joining a long bus tour with lots of huge hotels...we wanted to get a feel for London and the atmosphere of days gone by. This hotel was so charming. The room was small, not too small... and could have used some updating...but the bedding and curtains were elegant and made you feel like you were in a country inn/bed and breakfast. The bathroom was nice too. Speaking of breakfast, it was outstanding! We chose the room rate including breakfast and it was definitely worth it. The waiters and waitresses were excellent. The concierge desk was amazing. They helped us make needed phone reservations and saw to it that we had whatever we asked for (ice, water, tea etc). The location was very convenient. We could walk to Kensington Palace, Hyde park, the museums and the South Kensington metro station. Many shops and pubs in walking distance also. This hotel really was pleasant and we would go there again without hesitation!! Good value also!

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room and it seemed fine...have no comparison to other rooms in the hotel.

I stayed here for 5 nights in March 2012.

The hotel is quite tastefully decorated, mainly in Victorian style, with leather seats and many antiques in the public areas.

Since I was staying here for 5 nights I phoned the hotel in advance (I had paid for single occupancy small double room) and they were able to give me a room on top floor, at the back of the building - so the room was silent every night and I was able to get a really good sleep. The bed itself was relatively comfortable; a little hard - but the Victoria style curtains around it made it something quite special.

The bathroom was a good quality - big enough, despite being in central london, with good pressure water for shower, and a bath. The hairdryers were better than average for a hotel. The only thing to be improved in the rooms were the TVs.

The breakfast was ok - a full english was available, and there was a buffet with fruit/ cereal etc - nothing very special, but still very good.

Finally the location of the hotel is excellent - it was a 5 min walk to South Kensington tube station, and less than that to the V&A museum and Natural history museum. Would definately stay again in London.

Staff were also very helpful and friendly.

Very nice hotel in South Kensington. The service is outstanding, everyone is really helpful and nice. The room was very clean even though a little old fashioned. Our bathroom had a bath-tub as well. Continental breakfast included in the rate. You can get a "British breakfast" with bacon&eggs, beans, sausages etc. for an extra price. The hotel is located centrally, about 5 minutes by walk to the nearest tube station or bus stop. The neighbourhood is quiet but if you get a room next to the street you will hear the car/bus/trucks passing by early in the morning. The windows should be more sound-insulating. Overall a good experience, I would suggest this hotel for a quick stay.

This small London boutique hotel is located In a great location. Rooms are tiny, the staff very helpful and friendly. Cheapest price was offered through hotel and not a hotel website. Breakfast was okay. Try local caves around corner. Tube and market within 2 blocks.

Room Tip: Take room in back of hotel to avoid possible street noise

We stayed for one night in a deluxe double room. Most comfortable bed ever! Lovely, plush soft furnishings including bed canopy. Door opening onto balcony with table and 2 chairs an added bonus. Situated in really quiet area. Staff could not be more friendly or helpful. Visited V & A and attended event at Royal Albert Hall - both within easy walking distance. Close to many cafes/restaurants. Will definitely stay again.
