Lots and lots of books. if it's a bit crowded it can be a confusing search as there are tables of books as well as the shelves.

How refreshing to see an old worldly bookshop on a lovely street in London. I sought out this bookshop, after reading a newspaper article about it. I was determined to go. WOW. Now THIS is a fascinating bookshop. A nice manageable size as well. I could have spent hours there, perusing the shelves. What an amazing selection of travel books they have and how lovely that many of the books are displayed on tables covered with beautiful William Morris wallpaper. That makes the presentation so pretty and unique; very eye catching as well. I loved the woodsy feeling and the intriguing upstairs part of the shop. Their Daunt Books cloth tote bag is popular and almost a badge of honour to be carrying it around. Visiting this bookshop is well worth it and a delight for all book store afficionados. The beautiful wooden entrance door is a sight to behold.

Hello, I'm going to be controversial here, but for the first time ever I am writing a bad review. This is a beautiful bookshop, a trove of interest, and I write a lot in my spare time. However, I came in yesterday and decided to just buy a card and one of their lovely bags, for a present. I couldnt find my visa card in my purse and said 'oh sorry, its in my phone case' and the young woman on the till said, in an extremely loud and condescending voice, 'your case is in front of you and your glasses are on your head'. I just looked confusedly at her and then thought...did I ask for that? The server next to her looked totally embarrassed but said nothing. Hence she will think that is ok. Did she know about customer service training or was she being entitled? I will leave this here, await the managers' reply. Lovely store BTW, sad this happened though but if I dont mention it then this young woman may do it to someone else. Granted I wasnt going to a book-signing, or buying a lot, I was buying a bag and a card, but never take your reputation for granted or be complacent, it always comes back to bite you!

Located in London’s Marylebone area, Daunt’s is a short walk from the Baker Street Station (bus or tube). Exit the Station and head towards Madame Toussaud’s (you can’t miss the lines). You’ll want to get to the other side of the street at the first crossing. Turn right on Marylebone High Street and Daunt Books is on your right just past Paddington Street.

Being book lovers, my husband and I opted for spending some time on a literary route. Daunt Books is one of the highly recommended in London. Filled with visitors on a chilly February Saturday, it is also filled with warmth and a welcoming presence. One must charge straight through the gift shop area at the front in order to emerge into the beauty of this magical space.

With three stories to explore, books are arranged by region/country (predominantly a travel bookstore). Beyond that taxonomy, it’s a challenge to determine the order; fiction and non-fiction co-mingle with travel guides. Be sure to ask if there’s a particular tome on your reading list.

Explore all the floors with expectedly creaky stairs, including a spiral staircase beckoning one to the third floor surround balcony flanked by second-hand books. The skylight above beautifully lights the nooks and crannies, and a stunning stained-glass window stands guard scaling the second and third stories of the rear wall.

Enjoy your visual consumption of Daunt Books. It worth the trip to Marylebone which itself is a pleasure. Visit the Sherlock Holmes museum or stand in the painful line for the wax museum if you wish. The books were enough for us.
