Stayed here for the first time over the summer. Loved having our own kettle and milk and breakfast/snack delivered daily. Hotel location was very convenient for us, might be out of the way if you're doing a lot of touristy stuff -- but even if you are, stay here anyway. You'll be in a real neighborhood.

Staff seemed very nice, but we didn't have much interaction with them after check in. No complaints.

We had a nice breakfast every morning in the hotel restaurant. It's independently owned and very good. I think they said the restaurant was owned/managed by the people who run the Soho Club. Breakfast very good. Didn't have any other meals there.

We booked early and got a (relatively) good rate. We had friends traveling at the same time who tried to book closer to their trip and were put off by the much higher rates. I'm told they change their prices the way the airlines do -- the earlier you book, the better.

My only small complaint is that the lobby is absolutely freezing. We were there during a June heatwave and the lobby felt like a meat locker. (And I call it a heatwave only because that's what the locals called it. I live in LA. I'd call it spring.) There were a few times we might have stopped for a drink in the lobby or had supper at the restaurant but didn't feel like going upstairs and changing into warmer clothes. Small inconvenience for a nice stay at a great property.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in November. The rooms felt very contemporary, quite masculine with dark, sleek look. Comfortable bed and nice bathroom with good shower. Very basic toileteries, though, so bring your own.

The staff were all very helpful and service-minded. The reception area is located right next to the hotel`s extremely(!) noisy bar/ restaurant, so we had to shout to the reception staff (I actually felt quite sorry for them, working in such noise all evening).

The area is the main problem, because it is a little off the beaten tourist track. Even though the Old Street Tube station is only about 3 min walk away it is on the Northern Line and you have to change at least once or twice if you are going to the main shopping streets/ sights. I would recommend taking a taxi when coming from the airport to avoid dragging your suitcases up and down the many stairs of the London Tube.

The hotel provides small, complementary breakfast bags (banana, orange juice and yoghurt), and I thought that was a great idea! Wish more hotels would do that. You can also buy a breakfast buffet down in the restaurant, but we didn`t do that. I recommend "The Breakfast Club" instead. Only a few minutes walk away and much better selection.

So - the hotel is nice and the staff is great, but the location is not. Would rather pay a little more to be closer to the "city centre", I think.

Room Tip: Make sure you either bring earplugs or get a room on the top floors. A lot of noise from the restaurant downstairs and from the backyard.

Our first stay at the Hoxton and we loved it. The friendly trainee on reception gave us a 'special' individually designed concept room on the top floor which was wacky and comfortable. The pricing model is marvellous and we took full advantage of booking several months ahead and getting a very good deal.

Room Tip: The sixth floor is very good!

Tired of the corporate approach to hotels? This is one place that breaks the mold with cool rooms and a commitment to service at every turn. Staff - awesome, Rooms - electic, Feeling - totally relaxed, yet immersed in the vibe of what's happening in London.

This was my third time staying at the Hoxton and the stay reaffirmed that this is the best place to stay in London....with some conditions.

In terms of location, the hotel is pretty great. It's central, but not in a place where too many tourists go (particularly at night). Because the neighborhood is trendy at the moment, pubs, bars, and restaurants tend to be packed. In general, a great location if you're young and interested in being in a place that's off the tourist path (and also have no problem with having to fight for a seat at a bar).

The hotel itself is pretty great from a design perspective. The lobby is big and welcoming with couches and fireplaces. The bar and restaurant though are pretty lively, particularly on the weekend. So if you're the type that enjoys a quite drink in a cozy hotel bar this place probably isn't for you. The hotel is flanked between the busy Great Eastern Street and the quieter Willow Street. A word to the wise: request a room that faces Willow Street. The rooms there have double-paned windows and tend to be quieter.

The rooms are small but incredibly efficient. No space is wasted; the rooms are still more than adequate for two people and their luggage. The bathrooms are fitted out in black marble, which makes them appear clean and modern. The free bar of Pears soap is also a nice touch. The bed linens are pretty nice but the towels could probably stand to be replaced. Each morning the staff puts out bags of Pret a Manger breakfast bites: a banana, yogurt pot, and an OJ. Pretty great way to start the day. Of course, you can also purchase something heavier in the lobby restaurant if the Pret's not enough. There's also an empty mini fridge (except for the free stocked water bottles and fresh milk), which is an increasingly-rare but nice treat to find in hotels today - great for stashing that cheap can of beer from the bodega across the street.

Overall, this hotel is great if you're young and not particularly interested in luxury accommodations. There's basically no concierge (the front desk will direct you a computer bank to make bookings....the computers were mostly broken so not very helpful) and there are no gym facilities (they'll direct you to a gym two blocks away where you can pay 7GBP to work out). It's smart and efficient in ways that could turn a lot of folks off. For example, I would probably never tell my parents to stay at the Hoxton or any friends traveling with infants. But for single travelers, young couples (and the young at heart), you'd be hard pressed to find a better boutique hotel in central London.

Room Tip: Rooms on the Willow Street side tend to be quieter.
