“Nice Place Close to Underground Station”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 March 2012

I needed a place to stay for 2 nights in London, but the company's "recommended hotels" were all booked. I searched for hotels in the area that I needed to be (close to Kew Gardens) and found Hotel 55. I was not really interested in super-deluxe accomodations, so the "tiny" class of room was just fine for me. The internet rate was very good compared to other hotels in the area so I booked it.

The hotel is about a 2 or 3 minute walk from the underground station (Picadilly Line - one of the main lines), so it is very convenient to get to and from Heathrow (one train change is required).

The clerk at check-in was very friendly and helpful. The room (#5) was indeed "tiny" - barely enough room to get past the end of the bed, but the room was very clean, well decorated, and had a nice bathroom (shower only). The bed was very comfortable. There was nothing to see out of the window except for a brick wall, but I didn't find that to be a problem.

Some of the Tripadvisor reviews indicated noise was a problem, but the room that I was in was extremely quiet.

Everything worked - TV, heat and internet were all fine. I forgot to bring the proper electrical adapter, but the front desk clerk gave me one without any problem.

Breakfast buffet was very good - I enjoy the "European" style - meats, cheese, and fresh fruit, but bread, juice, cereal and pastries were also available.

I did not eat at the restaurant (except for breakfast), so I can't comment on it other than it is nicely decorated. There are a couple of places to eat close by - a pub, Indian restaurant and a kebab place for fast food. A grocery store is also very close.

All in all, I would not hesitate to come back and would certainly recommend this hotel to others.

Yes, the rooms are small but they are decorated to an extremely high standard. We stayed in room 205 which even has a bath tucked into the tiny bathroom. And the Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries were a lovely extra.

All the staff were friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We had the continental breakfast which was served in the stylish Momo restaurant.

This is a hotel that cares about the little things. I would definitely stay here again.

Very pleasantly surprised. Dont let the outside fool you. Its very chic inside. Could do with a cooked breakfast though. Staff very attentive, well located for the tube and the City. Liked it ... alot.

Room Tip: pick a garden room, the North Circular is busy 24/7 and the rooms at the front are noisy.

Really nice hotel, rooms have a boutique style, staff: excellent service and the added bonus of a superb Japanese restaurant. Breakfast is continental but a really nice selection. I would say it is good for Business, a romantic break and families. Free wifi which is always a big plus for me. Real coffee machine in the room. 1 minute walk from Tube station and is right on Hanger Lane so very good for getting into London easily. Will definitely stay there again.

My GF found this hotel on the net and i loved the pictures... Plus I wanted sm special for me and her so the decision was quite easy ....
I booked a garden view room, which btw is worth repeating anytime ... Garden is just amazing... plus they have a Japanese restaurant with one of the best sushi i ate so far ...
Only pitty for me were the opening hours ... somehow i can never make it till 10am for bfast and also i tend to get hungry after 10.30pm .... so if u r Spanish then ask in advance for your alternative options.... in my case i got lucky with the waitress as she gave us bfast even past the bfast hours .... I take it as a nice gesture of appreciation, Many thanks.

Last few years i've been traveling a lot .... staying in hotels whether it was for business or leasure but i have to thank Tiberius at the reception who helped me with everything i needed/wanted ... and all that with a warm smile ... not the fake one u usually get...

Definitely recommending this hotel to all of you who want to enjoy a quiet nice place with great kitchen and don't mind traveling a bit as it's off Center ... (Tube station -Picadilly line- is literally around the corner) ....

Summary:
+ Nice rooms (some can be quite small so pay extra attention while booking)
+ Great kitchen (as long as u like JApanese food ... and i mean not only sushi...)
+ Amazing garden
+ Servis
+ Bfast & Wifi incl in price

- Bit off Center
- parking only for 6 cars
- restaurant opening hours (this is my personal remark as i like to eat late... the Spanish way)

Room Tip: Definitely roof and garden view... the one with the golden wall.... :)
