“1st class hotel”
Reviewed 5 June 2012

I booked this hotel for me and my daughter the price included tickets for chelsea flower show. Arrived about 1pm but the friendly staff let us check in which was very welcome as it was such a hot day when we got to our room the aircon was on it was lovely!!! We only had a standard room but was impressed with it would love the chance to stay in one of the better rooms so would have been nice to have had an upgrade!!! Im not complaining the service from the staff was 1st class they were so friendly and helpfull. They went to the trouble of getting info for us from internet with directions how to get to the show and we found it very helful making it easy to find. Also my daughter dropped her towel in the bath so it was wet through. The next morning i asked if they could leave a clean towel when they cleaned our room. But not 5 mins later some one brought us not 1 but 3 towels and then left another 2 when they did our room leaving us with 5 in total. What service!!!!! We had food in our room on sat night they told us it would be half an hour but arrived in 15mins and again the service brill and the food was also great.
The breakfast!!! Well what can i say? I cant think of one thing that was missing it was superb as was the service. The first morning wasnt so busy but the next morning was very busy but the service was still 1st class. So was the breakfast. I requested a quiet room and we were on the 7th floor and boy was it lovely and quiet the only one negative was the view , we didnt have one , but then we didnt spend the weekend looking out of the window so hey!! Ive stayed in many hotels but this has to be one of the best. I would definatly stay here again given the chance. Even though its not in the centre of london it was so easy to get around once we has worked out the tube. It only cost us £15 each for travel on both the tube and buses for the weekend. what a bargin!!! All in all we had a great weekend but the hotel really did make it for us. What a pleasant change to stay some where that the staff really seamed to want to be there and help. Well done. Please pass this onto your staff as they deserve the praise!!!

Excellent value for money over weekends!
We spent Easter weekend at the Hilton Canary Wharf and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the service and the room for the price we paid. I asked for a quiet room (after comments posted about the noise due to the DLR) and received a room at the back of the hotel on the twelfth floor that was as quiet as could be. They knew it was my birthday and there were balloons and snacks in the room at our arrival – the perfect way to start one’s stay! The Easter eggs we received every night were also a very nice touch. The room was big (especially for London), clean and it had a lovely bathroom with nice toiletries (Peter Thomas Roth).
It isn’t in the centre of town, but that isn’t a problem as there are DLR and Tube stations close by. It is less than 5 minutes’ walk to the DLR station (South Quay) and less than 10 minutes’ walk to the Tube Station (Canary Wharf). On the way to the tube there is a nice shopping centre with quality stores and some nice places to eat. The other nice thing about the area is that it isn’t crowded over the weekend and if feels really safe.
So far it has been the best value for money of the five hotels we’ve stayed at in London.

Room Tip: The DLR seems to make quite a bit of noise and I although I cannot comment on the sound proofing of...

This is a perfectly acceptable, recently completed, business class Hilton. In other words, it's very good. The standard double is a good size, by London standards, the bed is comfortable, the service is good, everything works and it is completely devoid of any character.
It is located very close to South Quay DLR station and a five minute walk across the footbridge and through an office block to Canary Wharf and the tube station, and it is really designed as a hotel for business travellers. However, communications to both Greenwich and the centre of London are reasonably good and you should be able to get a real bargin at the weekend. These days, Canary Wharf does have shops, restaurants etc open outside office hours, so it could provide a more comfortable and cheaper alternative to a central London hotel for a leisure break. Don't expect to be charmed, though.
By the way, there is an excellent Turkish restaurant, called Hazev I seem to remember, just around the corner on the waterfront facing Canary Wharf. I have eaten there three times and it has been great each time. It also has a bit of charm and character!

Room Tip: Rooms on the water side are quieter.

This is a comfortable business hotel, close to the South Quay DLR line and a short 5 minutes walk from the Jubilee Canary Wharf tube stop. Particularly the Jubilee line takes you into central London in only 15 minutes (Westminster, Waterloo, Green Park, Bond Street). For the DLR, there is a direct connection to Bank.

As a hotel, it is what one expects. The rooms are comfortable and big enough, although the queen size bed was surprisingly small (they could have easily fitted a bigger bed in the room). The complementary newspaper in the morning is a nice service, but WIFI was available only at a steep rate (at 15 pounds a day). The decorum and the bath room were not spectacular.

The breakfast was excellent in terms of the offer, but the waiters were very confused. The service was not very professional. The breakfast room was also a bit of a zoo and it was very loud in the morning with loads of people.

Finally, while the location is fine, the hotel rooms do not have views what so ever.

I am delighted that overall you had a comfortable stay at the hotel. With regards to your comment on the view, the hotel is located in the business district of Canary Wharf and as such is surrounded by many tall buildings situated in the area. However should you return to the hotel please do not hesitate to book a room on our Executive Floor front facing where you can see excellent views overlooking the river and London’s iconic buildings such as the Shard, the Gherkin etc. I have shared your comments with regards to breakfast with our Food and Beverage Manager.

This place is clearly incredibly expensive during the week, but thanks to Trivago we got a really great weekend deal at about 25% of the rack rate. As they were clearly fairly quiet, we got a free upgrade too - the room had a great view overlooking the river and looking across to the almost-finished Shard. The check-in staff were extremely polite and efficient.

Not the biggest room I've ever stayed in but it was thoroughly modern, stylish, comfortable and clean. The buffet breakfast was excellent, too.

Excellently located in the heart of the business district with the DLR station (South Quay) just 150 yards or so away. Apparently some front facing rooms on the lower floors suffer from noise from the DLR which runs right outside the front of the hotel, but being several floors up our room was blissfully quiet. So convenient for getting around - we went to Greenwich which was just a handful of stops away, whilst getting into the West End for a show on the second night took only about half an hour at most.

Amazingly for this area there is a proper real ale pub - really old fashioned and completely absent of yuppie types - just about 200 yards' stroll down the road, whilst in the same street there is also a really excellent, reasonably priced Indian restaurant. These are both in Manilla Street.

It's not a place to stay if you want character or a boutique type hotel, but it fulfilled our needs in absolutely every way. We couldn't fault it in any way at all.

Room Tip: Aviod the front facing lower floor rooms due to railway noise.
