“Good City Hotel”
Reviewed 25 April 2012

My wif and I spend the night in the Apex City of London Hotel the night before the London marathon as we had friends and family running, and wanted to stay over to avoid an early start to get up to London on the Sunday morning.
After looking at lots of hotels we decided on this one and I have to say, we were far from disppointed.
The hotel itself is in a great location. Only 3 min walk from Tower Hill tube, and a minute further to the Tower of London, and Tower Bridge. It was very quiet too. The room itself was beautiful (although they did upgrade us to a junior sweet). A massive comfortble bed, large bathroom with bath and shower (the largest bath I have ever seen in fact!). A nice lounge area, and nice decor.
The facilities for the room were great too. They included two flatscreen tv's, an array of books in the room, and a dvd library (available from reception) which was all free.
The bar area was lovely (although not cheap, but then what London hotel is). The staff were very helpful and friendly also.
All in all, we tried to think of a fault with this hotel, and were unable to, so we would deifinitely stay here again!

We just stayed here again for the London Marathon, and they need to buck up really. Queue at reception, slow check in. The bathroom looked really tired, shower was poor. The room was gloomy, I couldn't see into my bag even with all the lights on!

Only 2 tea bags - you shouldn't have to be going to reception for tea bags in a hotel of this standard. No bath robes. Cheap and nasty radio alarm. Unable to operate TV remote to access radio and non-TV content

I have great memories of this hotel, but it is lagging behind some of the other hotels in this area and they need to spruce it up and kick start the service.

Cannot recommend this hotel too highly. Staff are so helpful and professional - loved everything about it and they have great breakfasts too.

Room Tip: Ask for quiet room - we were there for the Marathon so needed a good night's sleep

Bus stop near the hotel. Takes about 15 minutes to get to city center. Breakfast is average.

Loved this hotel so much last time that when the opportunity arose I had to go back there and there were no regrets. Despite it being London Marathon weekend and the hotel being full they still managed to upgrade me to a Deluxe Room on the top floor with great views to Tower Bridge without even asking for it. The restaurant food was as good as it was last time, complientary wi-fi and very pleasant staff. To top it all off, they let you keep the rubber duck in the bathroom, priceless!
