During our trip to London in August we stayed in Acacia Hostel, South Kensington, close to the Science Museum. After a long day's sightseeing we finally settled in the kitchen for our dinner, a chat with other guests. Next morning I found my handbag was gone!
I frantically tried to remember and found I'd left it in the kitchen. No hope to get it back, I thought. But at my enquiry the receptionist handed me my bag complete with wallet, money, bankcards etc., nothing missing! Someone had found it in the kitchen the night previous and handed it. Thankyou for your honesty to guests and staff from Acacia Hostel !

This is just to share my thoughts for having been a guest at Acacia Hotel in South Kensington,London.

Having been no stranger to being a hostel guest at other times of my travel and also in between places in London,I am pleased to say that I have stumbled on an excellent place for a stop over.

In just a few words for those who are looking for a short or long stay and have in mind a convenient location in the heart of London, this hostel is terrific, warm friendly stuff, very clean facilities, fantastic power shower, very decent breakfast and decent timing unlike some that starts at 7am to 8.30am,this goes on to 9.30am! and yes you can use the kitchen for easy cooking in the evening too!!

Generally as I have done quite a bit of hostel rounds,I would highly recommend a stop at Acacia for those who are looking for a truly easy going stay.

This is without doubt THE WORST place I have ever stayed in. It is not worth paying any amount of money to stay there it's so bad.

It's 'basic' to a whole new level and absolutely filthy inside.

Unhelpful, disinterested and dopey staff members who didn't speak English.

Our room (which was just an old broken matress dumped on the floor) did not lock which presented a major security risk... in fact in the morning one random person just wondered in!

The shower area was disgusting and clearly had not been cleaned for yonks. The whole hotel stank of tobacco smoke, weed and $h1t.

The outside appearence and website are very decieving - do not fall for the trap! If you want to experience a genuine real life 'hotel from hell' than this would be for you. If not.... be advised and stay well clear of this revolting dump.
