Owner description: The RAF Benevolent Fund is proud and privileged to be the custodian of the new Bomber Command Memorial in central London. The memorial has been built to be modern, yet classical, in Portland stone. At its heart are the bronze sculptures of a Bomber Command aircrew. Within the memorial, the space is open to the sky with an opening designed to allow light to fall directly onto sculptures of the aircrew.

Clearly, a lot of thought went into the design and it is a remarkable monument. Since it has only recently been opened, there are still all the handwritten notes from some of the families of those who perished while with Bomber command. These notes are extremly moving and remind one why the world should avoid war at all cost.

These servicemen knew the odds were against them surviving and yet they still did their job. It is a pity that it took so long to recognize the sacrifices of the Bomber Command people and their families

Just go, the 55,000 airmen who lost their lives, deserve this Memorial. Close to Green Park station, on the fringe Green Park.

Have visited twice. Find it very hard to leave. Stunningly beautiful serene spot on a busy road, very moving and heart wrenching. The figures are very detailed and tell a story, the surround structure is classically beautiful. Anyone like me, who had a relation that served in Bomber Command, will be, like me, reduced to tears. I strongly advise a visit for everyone, especially if you have children that are of a Bomber Command descendant. Looking forward to my next visit.
Lest we forget

This memorial was opened by the Queen this year 2012 many believe its 50+ years to late but at least its there now. Its very simple in style but very well done and worth a visit. Its position in Green Park is a gentle walk from the Green Park Tube station.

Queen Elizabeth recently dedicated this lovely memorial. Easy to find by Green Park and Hyde Park Corner. Other memorials are close by so visting this memorial allows you to visit other sites within the area.
