4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2012

I stayed fro two nights at this hotel and would recommend it for good food, friendly service and cleanliness. I have had to mark it down as it is a bit dated NOT shabby but has an 80's feel to it i'm afraid. Don't ;let this put you off as its a good base for london visits

Room Tip: Have a Crown room as there is plenty of space

First time at this hotel with husband and 2 grown up sons. The staff are very friendly and efficient but the hotel and rooms are tired and old fashioned. Our room was tiny and on the front which meant it was noisy, especially when coach loads arrived late. The sheets were clean but hard and there was 1 bobbly, synthetic blanket on the bed The mattress slopped to the middle. The shower was pathetic and hardly worth using. I agree with another reviewer that the tea/coffee in the room was mean and bland. Breakfast, for me was well below average. The only fruit was melon and tinned peaches(!!) and the poached eggs were rubber. For what we got it was expensive and a dissapointment. I would not return.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the back of the hotel, its quieter

This hotel is idealy suited for anyone who wants to visit the Greenwich Area. It is large well appointed building rooms are large staff extremely helpful. We booked a family suite ie 1 double and three singles in seperate rooms with one on suite. The rooms were fine but the central heating was very noisy during the night , switched on or off. Breakfast was excellent.

Room Tip: Dont have no 86

A nice hotel located outside the noise and bustle of London city but within easy reach (20 minutes) by train. The station is only 5 minutes walk away in Blackheath village and trains run in both directions every 15 minutes; we were told that the last train back was about 12.30am (but do check!).

The hotel room was clean and comfortable. The bed and bedding was ultra-comfortable and the room at the back of the hotel was very quiet (until the dawn chorus!). My only disapointment was the very tiny old fashioned telly, a larger flat screen would have been nice, and in common with many hotels really mean with the tea bags (2) and coffees (2) and no night time drinks - come on, they only cost fractions of a penny!

Didn’t have a meal there but the breakfast was very good, great choice and excellent tea and coffee service.

An excellent location for quiet walks across the heath and down into Greenwich park and the observatory etc.

This hotel enjoys a great position looking out over the windswept - seriously - Blackheath. I have stayed here twice now, both times in February, the first time in 2011 and again in 2012. During the most recent stay there were a number of coach parties in residence resulting in some serious congestion at Breakfast on one morning despite the discrete warning notice posted at reception suggesting that guests get there early on a Sunday(!) due to the place being busy. Although there is free car parking as others have commented, don't rely on it. If you arrive late, I would guess that is after about 4PM on some days, you won't get in either at the front or back. There is free road side parking nearby but watch the signs carefully to see what time you need to be clear in the morning. The bar is a little quirky and if you are fond of late night drinking might be a dissapointment. There is a bar service of sorts from the night porter, but the selection was rather limited. Despite all of this I like this hotel, and the Blackheath Village has enough pubs and restaurants to keep the interest up.
