Bridge to be crossed by feet. It offers amazing sight on the Thames so it's a wonderful place for taking a good picture. Advised.

A very central and very nice neighborhood. Many important points of interest of London are placed here:The Shard,The Southwark Cathedral,Shakespeare's Globe,Tate Modern, the lovely Borough Market, the City Hall.A lot of restaurants, pubs, cafes as long as is an area full of tourists.A place not to be missed!

We spent a full week in a beautiful rented flat. This is a very interesting part of the city and walking distance to everything. Also tube and train stations if you desire. Lots of great food and shopping. Next time in London we will spend two weeks in Southwark.

We had visited Southwark during a previous stay in London and had enjoyed its vibe. Therefore, when we were enjoying another long stroll along the South Bank, we spent sometime checking out Southwark again.
This time, we spent much of our time in the locale, looking and the shops and stalls and enjoying the bustling atmosphere around the market, restaurants and cafes.
It was unfortunate that we just did not have more time to spend in this lively area. It has a real buzz to it!

Southwark borough came into effect in 1965 when 3 smaller areas amalgamated. Southwark contains many historical and touristic attractions such as; Southwark Cathedral, Tower Bridge, The Shard amongst others. Southwark's borough headquarters is on Tooley Street.
