“Not so Smart”
Reviewed 28 March 2012

Six triple bunk beds situated in a normal sized hotel room - can't believe it has passed any fire risk assessment. The floor can't be seen due to the amount of bags, clothes, shoes strewn about the place and everything stinks, including the tiny showers and loos, but the longer you linger the more you get use to it and I had a surprising good nights kip. Bring ear plugs, an eye-blind and a coat hanger to keep your stuff off the floor (corridor between bunks). People can be very inconsiderate so expects lights on, conversations, snoring, coughing and door slamming.
The wifi only applies to one tiny room which is packed with teenagers in the evenings so if you are over 25 the other residents will call you grandpa/ma.
A refundable 10quid deposit is paid for clean sheets/key and also I found the staff really good and efficient, and even they know it is a dive.
Location is good close to bars, shops and the tube is 30seconds away.
However it is ridiculously cheap for London but the money that you save will soon be spent dreaming up ways to keep away from that place.
If you are a bunch of teenagers... why not.

Room Tip: All rooms are awful, but choose a bunk close to the window (if there is one that is) so youhave fres...

This hostel feels more like a homeless shelter than a hostal, we had an early flight out of heathrow and thought the cheap price would be fine for 1 night. I awoke around 4:00 AM to a large man snore yelling in the bed above me, he must have been in his mid 30's so certainly no youth hostile here. This belief was confrimed when (due to the large snoring man above me I couldn't sleep and decided to take a shower since our flight was leaving at 7:00 AM) and was greeted by a small half bald gray haired man standing (in one of the two side by side showers) naked with the shower curtain open. Undeterred I closed the curtain on my stall and went ahead and showered. After the shower I went back to my bed to gather my things and dress to find another older gentleman had crawled in and was fast asleap. I dressed in the dark and got out of that rat trap, certainly never to return.

This hostel is disgusting, the receptionists are incredibly rude and unhelpful, the bathrooms are extremely dirty, there is no lift so if on the top floor (which we were) you have to go down stairs and back up to get to the toilets, there is no lift and the stairs are very dangerous. Dusty floors, cleaners can't speak English and there was urine on the bathroom floors, toilets also dont have lights. Do not stay here !!!

We arrived to an unhelpful and unfriendly reception then we were showed to our room and were disgusted. The beds were filthy and looked like they had never been cleaned, the bed sheets were stained and looked and smelt like they hadn't been washed. The floor was full of dirt and dust and we couldnt bare to stand on it without socks. The sink was filthy and was barely hanging onto the wall and the taps hardly worked. The mixed gender shared bathrooms we're unbearably disgusting, we didn't even shower!! The toillets were never cleaned and the showers were full of grime and dirt. There was no locks on the doors or nowhere to put your clothes. There was not even anywhere to buy a towel to get a shower if you wanted to bear the disgusting conditions! Other travellers said that the shower just ran boiling hot and freezing cold and it was awful. Breakfast was like germ heaven and we refused to eat it, we had to buy ours even though we paid for our breakfast... Also we did not get any sleep for 5 nights as the rooms above a d next door didnt obey the 11pm lights out and invited various people into their rooms. The men made all 7 of us feel very uncomfortable and weary, we just didnt feel safe. I would strongly reccommend travellers to stay ANYWHERE else, this is the worst and dirtiest hostel I've ever experienced. This should be inspected and shut down by hotel inspectors, it is hell!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Just dont stay here.....

We stayed in a 16 bed dorm. location was great and facilities were good in terms of shared areas and reception, however the room was very small and uncomfortable. Beds were shoved into a room which should have only had 10-12 beds max, not much room to put luggage. Bathrooms were TERRIBLE! had to straddle the toilet to close the door and showers had poor pressure and were tiny. Would not want to be a large person staying here!!
Free breakfast was handy, cereal and toast. good for people on a budget!

Service was generally fine, and did not see the other, smaller dorms but would definitely not stay here again in a 16 bed dorm, there was simply not enough room for so many people!
