“Good value, friendly staff!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2012

We stayed a week at Jesmond Dene and were quite happy with our choice. The location is more than convenient, with just 2 minutes to King’s Cross station, but also within walking distance to many wonderful places like the British Museum, the Camden markets, Regent Park, or the London Zoo.

We opted for a double with shared bathroom (£75 for 2 persons), which was fine for us, even though the bathroom on the top floor was really small. Our room was perfectly clean and friendly, though rather small (but as we spent most of the time outside seeing London we used the room just for sleeping). The hotel is located in a quiet side street, so we didn’t hear much noise from the outside. The walls of the rooms are however paper-thin, so earplugs are highly recommended to avoid waking up whenever somebody is coming up the stairs or walking around in the neighboring rooms.

Breakfast is included and served from 7:30 to 9:00 AM. It consists of coffee, tea or hot chocolate, orange juice and toast, as well as warm the standard Full English Breakfast that can be modified on demand (scrambled eggs, yogurt, muffins, cereals instead of the standard fried egg with beans, bacon and sausage). The breakfast room has only 6 tables, and you are advised to get there early in the mornings to not have to wait for a table. If all tables are occupied, the concierge will put your name on a list and give you a call in your room as soon as a table is free. Just once we had to wait for more than 40 minutes until we got a table, most of the time we got a table right away. I big thank you goes to the staff serving breakfast – they really went out of their way to get us everything we needed, being super-friendly and kind at all times.

Overall we found the Jesmond Dene really well-located and good value and would probably stay there again in the future.

Room Tip: We were glad not to have chosen a room on the ground floor or basement because these must be quite n...

My husband and I spent 2 nights here in February 2012 for his birthday. It was in a great location for taking the tube everywhere! It took us awhile to find it with their directions, but that's only because there was construction going on at the time. It took us about 5 minutes to get to the tube station from the hotel once we were there. The room was small, and the bathroom was even smaller, but it was clean. The wifi was strong too. Breakfast was a traditional English breakfast that was very yummy! It filled us up until lunch time even after walking around tons during that time.

I spent three nights at this hotel in mid April with my daughter and mother-in-law and our accomodations were perfect for three generations of women. We were assigned room #15 which had three single, very comfortable beds. The room, although tiny was clean and to my suprise so tastefully renovated to take advantage of the space. The only drawback is that this room is on the lower level with the dining room and as soon as the breakkfast meal gets underway, you can hear the sound of dishes being served by the waitstaff. Not such a big deal to us because we planned to be up early anyway. Darren was friendly and courteous. I would happily return.

I booked this hotel based on reviews I'd read on tripadvisor and wasn't disappointed. The hotel website gives excellent directions and even a street view map giving directions from King's Cross station to the hotel door. It was very easy to find, and I was able to check in right away after a long flight from Alaska.

The hotel is small, but very clean and comfortable. Room 11 (a basic single on the top floor) was tiny and cozy and perfect size for me. I had a very nice stay at the Jesmond Dene Hotel and will be staying there again during my next trip to London!

Room Tip: If you're taller than 5'5" book the Superior room because the Basic is tiny and the sha...
