We stayed at Halsey House at Red Lion Square for our week long vacation in London. We were very pleased with the communication with the rental office and the quality of the property. The location is ideal - easy walking distance to many restaurants, pubs, area attractions, and the tube. The apartment is turnkey with necessary items such as towels, bedding, and kitchen items, but you will need to be prepared to purchase toilet paper, soap, and laundry detergent if you make use of the washer/dryer. It was very warm for London while we were there and ended up purchasing a fan for night time use as the rooms were very warm and no AC. This would not have been a problem, but we were on the first floor and not comfortable leaving the windows open at night. We really enjoyed our stay and the roomy apartment gave us space to spread out - much better than a small hotel room.

We stayed with another couple at 13 Red Lion Square this month, and really enjoyed the property. The young lady, Paula, who kept the apartment spotless, was so wonderful to us; she is kind and helpful, and goes out of her way to ensure the tenants are happy.
The apartment location is wonderful. We were 3 minutes' walk from the tube station (Holborn), and Sainsbury's grocery store (across from the tube station--great for supplies and croissants, etc). The street has pharmacies and other eating places, as well. The neighborhood is very safe, and the apartment looks out on a lovely little park, that has a café in the center, for coffee or a snack. If you go out the side door, there is a great pub/eatery called the Bountiful Cow; nice pub, and they make great cheeseburgers!
Dealing with the ladies at Holiday Lettings was great; they are quick to communicate, and very helpful. It is very nice being in a neighborhood, and on this quiet and quaint square, but having full and easy access to the bustling city via tube, or walking.
The kitchen and bathrooms in this flat have been recently updated, and were beautifully done. The décor is "antique comfortable", with some nice older prints on the walls, and the "visitng your aunt" cozy feel. Having a washer and a dryer were a great plus, too. They are small appliances, but we had no problem doing a few loads to get everything done, you can sit and enjoy the good wifi or tv news,, while our clothes washed. There is truly a feeling of "living in London" when you stay here. The neighbors in the building were all very welcoming. The furnishings in the den are older, and the couch is unusually low, but we found it all comfortable, and a nice place to gather, at the end of a fun day enjoying the City. Each room, including the kitchen and the sitting area have doors, so it was possible to watch tv late, make breakfast, and talk, yet not disturb those who chose to sleep in.
They do provide some paper products, and there are some coffee and tea things in the kitchen, that are very welcome additions. There is a nice 10 cup coffee maker, among the nice appliances, so bring your coffee and some filters, and head to Sainsbury's for some fresh local cream. If you have small children, you might pack a plastic cup or two, as there is only glassware in the flat. There are plenty of plates, cups and glasses, otherwise. Both bathrooms are good sized, and the towels provided are large and of very good quality. They did provide one bar of soap, but you might bring a bar or two of your favorite kind with you. We also purchased a roll of paper towels, which came in handy for our stay, which is easily done.
The only suggestion I have for management is to get one new bed.. The queen bed in the master bedroom sags on one side, and is hard to sleep in,as it slopes downward. The sheets and all bedding are very soft, clean and comfortable, and this is a small detail I am sure they could remedy quickly, making this apartment very nearly Perfect.
I would definitely rent from Holiday Lettings again; they have more units in this same building, so they can accommodate smaller or larger parties of visitors.
Good communication with the rental company, great location, ample space for family and friends, and lots of nice amenities make this flat a good base for any trip to London
