“Second visit just as enjoyable as the first!”

Compact site, well laid out and full of fantastic exhibits. Free to enter, you only pay for parking. Food available (or take your own and eat it in the area provided) and large play / hands on area for the kids. Highly recommeded.

“Free Museum - amazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 February 2012

That this is a free museum that you can wander around and get really close to the planes is amazing. My father maintained planes during the 2nd world-war and to see the Spitfires, Hurricanes, Lancasters etc. and see the detail and harsh beauty of some of these machines is a privilege. Unreservedly recommended.

“One of the best”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 February 2012

If you like aircraft you will love the museum at Hendon. You can relive almost any time in your life as you marvel at some of the most important aircraft of our time. Hendon is well equipped with places to eat and a wonderful day can be had by all.

“Some great, some good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 February 2012

Visited with mt Brother who is a absolute Aircraft fanatic.
The "New" hall (Milestones of Flight) is superb, bright, well lit and easy to photograph the planes, no real trouble grabbing a decent pic.
The other halls are good, crammed full of exhibits, and pretty dingy (The Bomber and Battle of Britain halls), making it hard to grab a decent picture.- I got into trouble for putting one foot over the line on the Floor to try to get a better picture of the ME110, it's not like I was going to climb on the actual plane or even touch it!!!!! Lighten up curator....
The "Our Finest Hour" show is worth seeing, although a bit of a climb up some steep stairs, this could be a little tricky for those less able.
The walk through the Sunderland is good, but would be hard for those with any sort of walking difficulties, or those needing wheelchair access.
A good day out, recommended (even with the Curator from hell....)
