“Felt a bit like Gulliver”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2012

Good location, lovely, buzzy London feel outside, close to the tube station and plenty of cabs about to hail.

Clean hotel with minimalist decor. Reception service was okay, although I nearly died of thirst in the bar and I was the only customer (perhaps don't order a cocktail).

Mine was a bit of a micro experience, I stayed in a micro bedroom, bed was comfortable and I enjoyed a good sleep. The micro shower room, also dinky was half a step away from the bed, which is great if you like to go from bed to shower without your toes touching the floor. All in all a very cleverly planned, compact room with no space wasted although a little claustrophobic.

As I was staying one night only none of this was of great concern, but I would have been reluctant to stay another night in the same room.

Breakfast was a bit of a slow affair but okay.

The hotel was booked on my behalf and it wasn't a cheap option. Although I wouldn't recommend against staying here I would say definitely have a look at alternatives first.

I stayed for one night on my own in Room 312, which was described as a double superior.

However, any resemblance between this room and a superior room was purely coincidental.
The best thing about this hotel is its location; literally 5 minutes walk from Euston Station. Exit on Eversholt Road, cross Euston Road and the hotel is 50 metres on the left, opposite the Hilton London Euston.

Check in was friendly and efficient (William quickly produced a London Underground map for morning travel).

However, even the hotel’s own pictures cannot disguise the small sized rooms and stark décor. My pictures perhaps give a more realistic view. One reviewer described the rooms as like a prison cell; not having had that experience I couldn’t say but I suspect that prison cells are better appointed. The room was clean enough but the ancient faded venetian blind gave the wrong impression.

The bathroom is cleverly designed but the oval shower curtain gives the appearance of more space than there actually is. The shower floor is not raised nor does it have a basin and the shower curtain does not reach the floor so water leaks out under it on to the bathroom floor and soaks the bath mat. The shower looks like a power shower but the pressure falls off dramatically as you turn up the temperature, rather like an electric shower at home. The small sink does not have enough space to sit anything other than a bar of soap and the spout is too close to the back rim for comfort. There is one small glass shelf. The lightly smoked glass door might be an issue for any couples whose relationship is anything less than extremely intimate.

THERE ARE NO DRAWERS AT ALL, SO YOU HAVE NO ALTERNATIVE OTHER THAN TO LIVE OUT OF YOUR CASES(S). The wardrobe (pictured) is no more than 8/9 inches deep with 5 hangers and also houses a hair dryer, tissues and a spare toilet roll (as there is no room for such luxuries in the bathroom).

The breakfast was excellent as was the service. I was seated immediately (at 8.30am) and offered tea or coffee. Freshly brewed coffee was quickly but strangely delivered in a small cafetiere. The Head Waiter made my toast in the machine. You can have a Deli Breakfast (fresh juices, smoothies, cereals, pastries, cheese, fish and meats); or Full English, Grilled Kippers, Pancakes, or Eggs any style (try the scrambled with smoked salmon) or any combination really, all freshly cooked.

I got a last minute “special offer” rate through Booking.com at £99.50; the suggested full price was around £166. Given the location and high quality breakfast I was reasonably happy with my experience but I could not recommend the double room for a couple nor would I want to stay more than one night. I would have been very unhappy if I had paid full price.

I know London rooms can be small but this was ridiculously tiny, so much so that it made me feel like I was in a prison cell, even the beds were quite hard, the decor is so stark it just adds to the feeling of being in jail, some curtains wouldn't go amiss instead of a white metal blind!

The bathroom was teeny and had one of those awful wet rooms with just a shower curtain which meant that the whole bathroom got soaked, I have never felt so cramped in a hotel!!

That said though the staff were friendly and polite and the lady checking us in was very helpful in getting us into a room asap as we had just come off a long flight from NYC and we were very tired, also breakfast was great, typical buffet style but hot and very tasty!!!

Second stay. Brilliant breakfast. Very helpful staff. Location easy for tube/rail/taxi. Wet room works well bit limited for storage in room but for a short stay really not a problem.. Euston station car park £17.50 for two days at weekend

The rooms are microscopic and the wardrobe fits three shirts and zero other items, but staff are lovely and helpful (particularly Rajiv and Ziville), everything is clean and the breakfast is great.
