“Lovely hotel by Hyde Park, but expensive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2012

Stayed in this hotel for a business trip very recently. In many ways, the hotel fits the purpose of the stay - it is designed more for business than for leisure/family. In fact, throughout my 3 days there, I have not seen a single child! While that makes the hotel 'professional', it does lack a slight warmth and human touch.

Hotel is not big, which is good for business purpose. The rooms are also relatively small, in my views. However, it has everything you need - a good size table, a nice comfortable bed, bright bathroom with amenities, electric plugs in all the right places. Nothing to complain. Went up to the Club, and that wowed me :) Lovely view of vast expanse of Hyde Park, big and airy space at the Club with good facilities, cosy and intimate.

Breakfast at the Cafe was good, although the quality of food at the same place at dinner was not! There is a nice looking Italian restaurant at the lobby level too - did not try it, so can't comment on the quality.

I didn't get out of the hotel much so can't comment on the location. It is in a quiet part of a street, but taxi is easy to hail so no worries. Harrods is just a 5GBP ride, though I was told there is a station (Hyde Park Corner) next to the hotel.

In conclusion - a lovely hotel to stay in London although expensive. Would prefer it to be a bit more personal and warm, but it is definitely a good business hotel to stay in and to meet people.

Location is well

Stayed here during the London Marathon and the start of our honeymoon. The hotel is great and room was very comfortable. Bose sound system and big LCD tv. Only negative was the cost of breakfast which was £20 each

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in April 2012 as an anniversary gift to ourselves.

The plus points
1. The staff are really really nice, friendly without being over bearing
2. The location is superb just at Hyde Park on the corner of Park Lane and Picadilly
3. The breakfast. Definitely quality over quantity. The 'egg chef' was a real nice guy.
4. The feel and ambience of the whole place from the minute the doors are opened for you.

The negatives
1. I was not greeted at check-in as a Priority Club member. Not a huge deal but we did say when upgrading to get Lounge access via email that it was for a special occasion (our silver wedding anniversary). Some hotels may have thrown a gesture such as a bottle of wine or a fruit basket but Intercontinental did not even acknowledge the reason for our visit which was a little disappointing.
2. Access to the Club Lounge is way over priced. The view is one of the bes in London but for the price I expect more. I have travelled the world on business and stayed in many hotels including Intercon, and always the bar is open. Not so at Intercon Park Lane. At £95 + vat per night this was a huge disappointment - the beer, wine and champagne were not available before 5:30pm and prmptly removed at 7:30 on the nose. Who wants tea and coffee after an evening in London! It would have been nice to have had the option of a night cap!

Restaurant
there are two award winning restaurants on site. We only dined at Theo Randall's. For those not in the know Theo was head chef at the River Cafe and has made a good TV career for himself. Many celebrity restaurants are over-priced and frankly disappointing. Not so Theo Randall's. Yes it is expensive but hey it's Park Lane so yo expect it. But the quality of the food and the service is worth every penny. I have a gluten allergy but the staff could not have taken any better care of me and it ws clear they were prepared for my questons. The only thing that could have been bettered was if Theo was in the kitchen but even he needs a night off i guess!

I work for Hospitality industry so my expectations are very high. This hotel is wonderful. Excellent service from both Front Office and Concierge desk. Excellent location central to just about anything you may want to see in London. Overall an amazing exprience. We had breakfast on most days, drinks at the bar and my sister utilized laundry service. We also has car sevices arranged to and from the airport. i cant say enough about everyone being so willing and earger to help out.

Not cheap (No London hotels are) and easily hundreds of pounds spent on good food and living, but if you like cleaniness and perfect service there is a really good choice to stay at IC London Park Lane.
you can choose between different rooms types, my recommendation is to book Club floor if you like more intimity.
I had a special request because I promised to buy some chilled food back home, they kept my ice clamps in a freezer and delivered them to my room at EXAKT time and with a smile.
Clean rooms, would like to have an internet radio for listening to specific radio stations.
One of the best spas, easily spend some more pounds there and a good blended drink. it is an Intercontinental way of living. Needs thick wallet!

Room Tip: Get a Superior room with view, if your like privacy and relaxing area, book a Club room. Well worth...
