ROOM 105. Staying for four nights lets you really see how things are run here. Our room was upgraded but was still quite tight, with a sole window overlooking an air shaft at the rear of the building. This is London!
The room was well appointed with sea grass carpet and a nice bathroom with a bathtub.
The restaurant is vey nice with dark wood paneling. Menu is traditional. Long hallway with bar rooms and dining room at rear.
The service at this hotel is Fawlty Towers to say the least! One evening we were subject to a new bartender who had endured dental work and could barely pour a drink. A martini was served in a wine glass, and our friend had to help serve drinks to customers. The evening manager was not much help.
Each night we encountered a new agency employee.
Breakfast service was also spotty. Orders were requested before you were seated, and often incorrect. But the food was spot on. Scrambled or poached eggs with smoked salmon or haddock. Perfect coffee. The silver service at Durrants is absolutely lovely. Whatever you desire, they deliver.
I actually cancelled another hotel for this one, and am so relieved. Really comfortable hotel. Perfect location. No pretences. Greatly recommended.More
