A strange visit this one, i stayed for the first time at this boutique hotel, where everything worked, good quality staff, but the hotel just felt a little cold, not physically but lacked warmth.......
all a bit strange.
The room was very adequate, staff very pleasant. the restaurant nice , a bit pricey but empty....
all in all a nice hotel but cold!

I am always looking for hotels that serve lone-female travellers well. The Gore is by far one of the best I have found in London in this way. Aside from its excellent location and ease of travel, it is beautiful, more like an old private club or stately home. The hotel surroundings are welcoming, as are the staff (one of the warmest welcomes I have ever had in a London hotel).

I stayed in a Queen room and had asked for a quiet room due to work... and thats exactly what I was given. A nice side room, beautifully furnished... I didn't hear any noise all night.

The food is fantastic. I ended up ordering room service as I got in late... the a la carte meal was divine and presented as though I were in the restaurant itself! You need to give into the desserts here... you can always run around Hyde Park in the morning!

Breakfast... great menu. Highly recommend the eggs benedict. Good coffee. Amazing home made thick cut marmalade. I didn;t use it, but I loved that it was possible to order breakfast/lunches to go... with Royal parks so close... its possible to take a picnic or just take the stress out of breakfast if travelleing.

Bar 190. Gorgeous, fabulous cocktails. Noone seemed to care that I was sat on my own in the corner reading my book for an hour or so. Many hotel bars are too stuffy or intimidating to sit and have a drink and a read... not the Gore. You almost expect to see celebrities relaxing in slippers/smoking jackets in the bar.

If you need to stay in Kensington... you need to stay at the Gore

Room Tip: There is a fitness room at the sister hotel which can be used.

We stayed for a night to take advantage of proximity to the RAH.We agree with a previous reviewer about the room size and description but it was fine and well equipped for one night. We ate pretheatre dinner which was good value and efficiently served. We particularly liked the green room which serves ad lib tea coffee and cold drinks for guests . Breakfast was good too and the staff were charming. We liked it a lot.

Superbly placed for the Royal Albert Hall, which is why we chose the Gore. Staff are welcoming, but the room allocated was a little on the small side....lets just say the room description made full use of the English language.

We had tapas and a few drinks before making our way to the RAH, food was lovely but the portions are on the down side of being exceptional. On the other hand the burgers are great. Yes, we would stay there again, but this is not the place to stay for more than 1 night.
