“AWESOME 1920s style hotel”
Reviewed 19 August 2012

This hotel was amazing. The location was really good (just one bus ride away from Trafalgar Square, 10 Downing St, etc). The style was very European, 1920s, and I loved it! The people were quite nice, as well. The only two downsides were that the internet only worked in the lobby (and was expensive), also the shower had no curtain, so the water went everywhere, but apparently it was designed that way! If I could choose anywhere in London to live, it would be here (if only the internet worked!)

We stayed in the hotel for 4 nights during the olympics.
The hotel was ok, but not value for the money we payed, and even though the location was great, it doesn't make the hotel itself any better.
Room was a bit dusty with some really weird toilet solution, but otherwise ok.

Pros:
+ good location
+ friendly staff

Cons:
- price (with some? olympic extra) was way too high for the quality
- toilet had been built into some small old closet and had no sink
- pricy wi-fi
- really low-quality breakfast (bad tasting coffee from a coffee machine, only cheese or jam for your bread, etc.)

Good option for a simple accomodation with a great location. Simple rooms, good breakfast, bad internet wi-fi, very close from Regent / Oxford Streets. Just beside from BBC Broadcast House. Great choice for a budget travel.

A ten minute walk to Oxford Circus or Regent's Park underground stations. Right next to the BBC. "Local" pub almost on the doorstep. London bus C2 stops in Great Portland Street about 50 meters away.
Hotel staff all very friendly and helpful. We had a double room (17) which was clean and spacious. Separate toilet from the bathroom (bath with good shower & washbasin). Separate wardrobe / cupboard with plenty of hangers. Good room lighting all round. Choice of three free newspapers. Safe in the wardrobe. Room door lockable from the inside. Phones on the dressing table / desk and by the bedside. One easy chair and one desk chair as good as an easy chair. Room overlooked the "main" road at the front, but even with a window open was not too noisy.
Breakfast a bit standard, but perfectly adequate - small packet cereals, croissants, bread rolls, fruit juices from concentrates, coffee, tea etc. Two breakfast rooms so plenty of space.
